[DVD playback] not past the Menu screen
#1
Hi,

I have XBMC for Windows Beta 1 installed on 2 systems.
On my Work PC XMBC plays a .ISO file with a DVD image or standard DVD disc without problems.
On my HTPC it won't start the movie, only the menu is shown but pressing on play movie it just sits there and does nothing.
LOG : http://pastebin.com/m6825ea54

DivX avi movies are working.

I fixed the problem by uninstalling XBMC and re-installing it.
I installed the Klite codec pack after the XBMC installation which uses it's own FF... files.

After a few more testing i found using Digital Audio the problem occurs.

Play the DVD with the Audio settings on Analog works fine, On Digital output it will not play the movie.

Audio hardware is a Soundmax AD1981B chip.

Looks like your sound card doesn't like the creation of the stream buffer:
Code:
10:06:32 T:2908 M:669138944   ERROR: CWin32DirectSound::CWin32DirectSound - cannot create secondary (stream)buffer (DSERR_UNSUPPORTED)

Unfortunately it seems that XBMC doesn't respect the failing and crashes when trying to access the buffer.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Cheers.

I will try it with a different Soundcard. ( Soundblaster probably )
