Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes (Danvers Preview) Alpha 4
"From Ashes Alpha 3 Cumulative Update" - "And this time it's more Alex Danvers than Kara Danvers"

As many know, overnight Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes Alpha 3 was released and than subsequently pulled due to an issue with the Settings page not being displayed. Today, Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes Alpha 4 has been released as a "cumulative update" to Alpha 3 and fixing the Settings page display issue. While we have fixed a number of issues from the previous Alpha releases, this version also suffers from a few issues but Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes for Kodi Krypton is starting to slowly come together. Alpha 4 is a stepping stone; the release is minor and some features are not functioning or have been disabled temporarily (or without us realizing it) as we prepare some of the biggest changes yet to Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes.

To signify how many changes are coming in the next alpha release, Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes is going to be skipping a version, jumping from Alpha 4 to Alpha 6 in the next Danvers Preview release. For now however, here is what you need to know for Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes Danvers Preview (Alpha 4).

Getting It

NortheBridge by Design® Repo - If you do not have the NortheBridge by Design® Repository, you may download it from https://embycdn.northebridge.com/Victori...1.0.00.zip and install it to your Kodi Krypton. This has superseded all other methods of getting AZ:FA to become the preferred method and how you will get the latest from AZ:FA first.
Emby Beta Repo - Emby, the original and continued home to Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes also has the latest Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes Danvers Preview update. It is available for download on the Emby official site or you can get the repository directly from the NortheBridge by Design® Repository.
Enterprise CDN Download - For those that don't use the NortheBridge by Design® Repository that also uses the very same Enterprise CDN, you can directly download AZ:FA by clicking the link: https://embycdn.northebridge.com/AZFA/da...alpha4.zip

Known Issues

Well, it's an alpha after all and there are some issues with Alpha 4 that will be fixed in the next release. Two issues, one that I knew about related to adjusting views because @minus0 is currently making that experience better; and an unexpected crash in the Music section first reported by Blurayx.

Code:

You will not be able to select any View Type besides List View and Thumbnail View. This will be addressed in the Alpha 6 Release.

Helping to Design From Ashes: The Busy Spinner

Everyone knows it. Everyone sees it. I am talking about the Busy Spinner which was updated recently to have a more modern look. Now we stand at a design crossroads in terms of whether to change it. I have two mock-ups courtesy of @minus0 and to me the second version seems "odd" but I wanted the opinions of those who use the skin before making a decision on whether Alpha 6 will change the busy spinner.

I didn't realize until now that music visualizations are not working, e.g. I can't see Milkdrop even I select it. I can confirm that it's working with confluence skin.

I'm using the Jarvis version

Music visualizations *are* working in the Jarvis version, but they take a bit of finagling to get set up properly (I just spent a few days getting them working myself).

Here's what worked for me:

Settings > Skin Settings > Background > Show music visualization in background
Settings > Skin Settings > Background > Don't show now playing video in background*
Settings > Skin Settings > Background > Show fanart*
Settings > Skin Settings > Background > Don't show extra fanart*

(Not sure if these are necessary, but what I prefer)

Settings > Skin Settings > OSD > Show artist slideshow
Settings > Skin Settings > OSD > Show visualization behind slideshow
Settings > Appearance > Screensaver > Use visualization if playing audio
Settings > Music > Playback > Visualization > (Select default, can be changed on fullscreen playback screen)

Start playing a song, go to fullscreen mode (tab) and then pull up onscreen settings (m).
- Ensure that 'Visual Text' is disabled (red). It seems like this can be re-enabled after visualizations are working, but I had to turn it off initially to get them to appear.
- 'Visualisation': select a visualizer.

You may need to stop the song and close and restart Kodi for the settings to be saved and visualizations to start.

For me the trick was to check

Settings > Skin Settings > OSD > Show artist slideshow

this allow me to check

Settings > Skin Settings > OSD > Show visualization behind slideshow

but then, as I don't like to see the slideshow of photos mixed with the visualization, I unchecked the

Settings > Skin Settings > OSD > Show artist slideshow

There is another problem I have noticed from the very first alpha release. At the moment i'm using Estuary MOD until Arctic Zephyr becomes a bit more stable.

when I set the TV shows or Movies widgets in Arctic Zephyr: from the Ashes everything works fine but if I go back to Estuary MOD I have to reset the widgets because TV shows and Movies are empty.

Hi is it possible to add all views in program section?

Is the current colors for the menu's etc staying,

I ask, as i have currently started modifying them to better fit with the themes colors.

The color picker does not work properly, if you select to enter a hex code, you can type one letter then it focuses to the screen behind.

Think the color picker in aeon nox 5 silvo is a much better fit.

I will be adjusting many of the options rather than the very limited ones you get now, so it will be a large amount of effort,

What do you think on this ?
