Just one other quick feature suggestion.
On the home screen within Last Played, you have a list of addons that when entered will show the last played list within that addon.
can you add 5 more entries within home menu (preferably at top) that shows the last five entries played, doesnt matter if its in different addons.
so now when I enter home menu I can quickly see last items I played without having to open any other menus.
Maybe have a user configuration that sets how many you want to see in home screen (inclusive of the addons list)

Done! Just released a new version that includes this option. If shoing a list of addon, it can display on top the last x things played

For me personally, I'm less concerned with items from addons, but I still have to go through up to 3 lists to find the "last played video": "Last Movies," "Last Episodes," and "<my root share, which is where non-library items appear>." Even if items from addons weren't included, it would be nice to just have one list with all of these 3. For example, a made-for-TV documentary might appear in any of these 3 lists: sometimes they appear as movies, sometimes as episodes, and if I just downloaded it but it hasn't yet been named properly & scanned into the library, it might still be in the 3rd list. Rather than having to search around for it, my goal in a 'recently used' list was to just simply find the last things I watched: without having to remember which of 3-4 lists it would appear in

Now we can a single list with everything that was played, no matter what. So no need to remeber where it was played....

I checked simply caz repo and his version of your addon only is ver 1.0.5
I downloaded your addon from your github, (last played master zip) it only loads version 1.02 (also confirmed in settings that its an old version)

Also I'm confused, you already have your addons on github, why can't you make your own repo?
for example primaeval has an addon IMDb watchlist player (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=284944)
his addon is on github but you can also install "his" repo

An exmaple in use

say im in an addon that has a playlist or episodes.
Say the episodes are 1-10.
when I click on episode 4.
It plays episode 4.

Now Last Played records meta data and the url of last played item, but what if it also recorded the kodi menu (or window) when the file played and link with the listing in Last Played. Thats where
*-Show last window before link was played*
comes from.

say instead of directly playing the link episode 4, I get a list of sources to stream episode 4.
now since Last Played records the 2nd to last window. Then I have the option to see the list with all the episodes.

why this can be useful.
2 reasons (which you already know)

if the link was expired or if you wanted to have access to the playlist or other episodes really quickly.

I believe this should be possible because the addon super favourites does this.
when you go into super favourites and go to a link, it will take you to another addon, when you press back it takes you back into super favourites (or the last window)
so Spoysers managed to find a list that kodi keeps of window hierarchy.maybe have a look at his code to see what he does.

I was confused when I first started playing videos, I coudnt see where the group by videos option was in settings.
Then when I unticked single list, I was given more options (I feel this isnt a good idea by hiding options in other options, not intuative and the average user I feel won't know the extra options exist) ,still it was confusing further because group by source, I didnt realise it was addons you was referring to
and group by type, you meant, videos, music etc

My proposal
-Get rid of hidden menus
-by default group by addons - since you have already seen most people use this addon for streaming
-gor the options "Group by" can you have
Source (Addons)
Type (Videos, Music, Pictures,....)

This way it makes it easier for poeple to understand

yes you've now added "links from all sources and types" and made it user configurable but what if I wanted a quick access to more links, I would have to go into addon settings to do this, would be alot better if I can just go into a folder to see more?

Thank you once again MediaPi, Your help has been invaluable in improving this. From Superepo only, it's getting around 70 downloads daily.

I'm busy finishing the 5 start movies site. This addon can already show on the watched hitory there. Also there will be a new addon to allow rating and synch

So I am managing the changes here, depending on the time it takes.

1. I saw a comment on utube, of someone, that expected to see past history. I hadn't thought about it, but this can be a very good solution for that. Will do!

2. I didn't want to have a long list of options. Will reorganize the settings with tabs, so it will become clearer.

3. I felt the same, the need of a separator, Didn't do it because it was late, and didn't feel like looking for the best way to do it, so I left for the next version

4. This I'm not so sure. There is already two ways to do this. the single list, and the top list. I have to be careful to keep options at a minimum so it does get too complicated.

One thing I made sure is that someone can install it and just use it. No need to open the settings or learn how to use it. That is why your point one if a good ideia.

Because there isnt time for everything i have been delaying the creating of a repo, hoping that third parties repos woul be enough. I'll have alook, to see if I can do it quicky.

while I have your attention for the next release could you think about this

when you show an addon like youtube on home menu, can you show what the last movie was played in youtube like so

YouTube / findingnemo trailer.

also there are addons that when a new update comes then we get a dialog box telling us new updates come and what they are, think most addons do that
you could add that, maybe when new users use the addon you could display the message to first play something.

rodrigl I know I asked for sorting addons folder (in last played) in order of last played, but using it I find it hard to see the addons easily.
Could you try to place them in alphabetical order in next release, familiarity will be better for users. I think it will be more fluid experience.?

most links, well I think almost all of them are dead
I wanted to use this addon so I can pick up links after a few days if I so wished

Ok, news

Finally I have a repo

and in the next few days, I will have a new version with some improvements (reorganized settings, separator on list, better titles, etc)

and also I changed the way I'm replaying the movies/shows. Now instead of playing directly thru kodi, I am replaying thru the addon that originally played it, which makes a lot of sense. And I hope most addons will be able to solve playing issues with alternatives.

Anyway I'll look into alternative ways to do this, like a generic search like you mentioned. I need it for another addon I'm finishing.

installling last played gives me "installation failed"

Yep, I just noticed that also.. iam fixing it, I renamed the github user, and i must have mispelled something

Edit: it's fxed, I had 1.07 instead of 1.0.7 ....


And yes I load the addon. If you watch a video on the youtube addon, I activate youtube to replay it.
It does not mean it will replay always, but it will increase the chances.
I'm still looking for other options, while keeping the addon legit and 'official'. The superfavorites script that you had done, is forbidden...

Just a heads up, Spoyser (super favourites developer) had two versions of his addon intially, one that followed kodi rules and one that didnt. I believe he stopped updated the one that was sent to kodi, saying that it ended up being a choir. and just pointed at his repo.

The kodi mods are smart so theres no point pretending (imo). This addon is used mainly for streaming addons, why not cater to your audience. I say leave the official kodi repo and create an addon that works well with streaming addons. if users uses pirated addons thats up to them.

You already have your addon in other repos, I dont think you should sacrafice your addon so it fits in with kodi repo. create something amazing like what spoyser did with super favourites. anyway keep up the good work
