Linux ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2017/02/21]
(2016-12-29, 23:16)achecchia Wrote: Please forgive me if this has been answered, I couldn't find the answer. I have a chromebox running openelec version 6.0.3 standalone, and want to update to 7. Says I have to do it manually. Any instructions on this process? Do I need to use google EZ Script? If so do I need to bring the grime box back to google OS? Any help is appreciated.
wiki has links/instructions for a manual update. the EZ Setup Script is not used, nor is there no need to go back to ChromeOS (ever)

I just updated OpenELEC on my KODI Chromebox and now the Chromium doesn’t work. Is this a known issue? Is there a way to revert the update to get it working again?

I have the Chromium add-on to KODI. It won't open the Chromium in the root directory. Is that the add-on's issue or the OpenELEC's issue?

no, you have the Chromium add-on to Open/LibreELEC, so the correct place for support with that is their respective forums. Also, has nothing to Chromebox hardware or the EZ Setup Script

OK Thanks!

also, OpenELEC is effectively dead; LibreELEC is what you should be running

I just switched to LibreELEC 7.0.2. I had installed the LibreELEC repo. I went there and re-added Chromium. It works now. Thanks! I put a little something in your in box for the help you are giving everyone! Happy New year!

Hi, I'm a newbie here. thanks for the script etc.
I've got Acer c720 peppy chromebook
I used the script to dual boot libreelec and chromeOS
LibreElec had HDMI output problems where the diplay was shared across my TV (HDMI) and the internal screen.
Reading some of this thread led me to install the custom firmware for the UEFI boot. (rightly or wrongly!)
Now I can only boot into LibreElec
Boot screen says SeaBios.....MrChromebox....booting from hard disc.
Pressing keys during this makes no difference and I cannot get to the boot options.
How do I boot into the ChromeOS ??
Many thanks
Ben

Hi Ben,

you actually just installed the legacy Full ROM firmware, not UEFI, as evidenced by the SeaBIOS splash screen. Neither legacy nor full ROM firmware allows you to dual boot ChromeOS -- only the stock firmware does. If you want to get back to dual booting, you need to boot a Linux USB, run my Firmware Utility Script, and then restore the stock firmware backup you made before flashing. After that, we can try and sort out the display output issues you are having (which I'm pretty sure can be solved from the Kodi Video Output Settings)
Reply
Matt, thanks for clarifying that. I'm glad your script prompted me to make a backup of the stock firmware!
I agree the issue sounds like a Kodi settings one, but I tried various settings without any change. One film I tried displayed correctly but most did not. Happy to try to solve this on a different thread as you've said its not relate to your script or firmware.
Many thanks
Ben

In the General tab of the LibreELEC Settings add-on, there is an option for auto/manual updates, and to check/download if manual. I keep mine set to auto and just reboot after it tells me it's downloaded/extracted

weird it never told me it downloaded it, but i rebooted just to see and updated apparently
