Beta 7 Critical Issue Fix Directions

An issue was identified in Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes Danvers (Preview) Beta 7 shortly after its release that would cause Kodi 17 RC2 and Kodi 17 Nightlies to crash on all platforms.

Cause

The cause of the issue has been identified to be related to a file that was merged into Danvers from the Caitlin Snow Branch.

I was worried I'd caused this somehow with my dodgy Icons fix..... phew.

The From Ashes Project team are going to get together to discuss the future direction of Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes Danvers and Arctic Zephyr: For Another Age. We will also be releasing the From Ashes Project Management and Bug Tracking System soon to allow the users to decide what features get implemented and what bugs are the most pressing. Think of this as our winter hiatus.

Sadly still crashing on my Nvidia shield tv using latest Krypton 17 rc2 nightly. Found that deleting the file "custom_caitlinsnow_azfaaver.xml" witin the 16x9 folder resolves the crashing issue on beta 8

I have mine set to default but they don't show up and I've tried customizing them but they don't change

Beta 8 unfortunately causes crashes in Kodi 17 beta7.
Removal of the superfluous errata file "Custom_CaitlinSnow-FRAMEWORK.xml" via ssh resolves the splash loop on libreelec.

The ninth Beta of the Girl of Steel version of Arctic Zephyr: From Ashes has arrived. A Critical Patch for Danvers Preview Beta 7 and Beta 8 for Kodi 17 Krypton Release Candidate 2, it resolves crashing issues on all platforms and is the latest preview release adding fixes to the degraded font icon functionality. Due note that do to substantial changes in Beta 6, Beta 7, and Beta 8, you may encounter equally significant bugs. Please report any bugs you encounter.

This will be the final Danvers Preview release for January until the From Ashes Team has a meeting to discuss the future of AZ:FA including For Another Age, Erso, and more!

Beta 9 was just released above (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2496235) containing the fix (again). Hopefully the second time is the charm. It's shocking how one simple not closed comment can render the Kodi skinning engine completely useless and crash it.

It will take the NBD Repo about two or so hours to update with Beta 9 globally. It will only update once the CDN Cache Invalidation is completed for the repository and that takes time when we're talking about many servers replicating the data. You can also just use the direct Enterprise CDN link if you don't want to wait for the repo to complete its update cycle.

I believe the Emby repo, since it's on one server only, uses a cron job that runs once every 24 hours so it will take longer than the NBD Repo to update.

Right I might have found a funny bug here.... But it could be related to my add-on that I am using..

I am using the PKC (PlexKodiConnect) on my rasp pi3.... When I go into On Deck sub folder I can see the movies that I am currently watching and has not finish.... But when my PKC does a full sync to my Plex server, my view changes from sort by: Last Played to Title, making the sorting fuck up hehe..

What do you need here to have a look at this??
