Release Netflix style next up notification
Initially I did start out with the post play window being launched a few seconds before the end of playback but ran into some issues when playback stopped. The first problem was that the window was closed. So I made it modal and that seemed to resolve things...until you decided to close the postplay window..when it would crash due to their not being a higher level window open to fallback too. In the end the most robust way to handle this was to let playback end normally (and that was one of my aims to try and get over some of the bugs reported in the thread where strange things were happening for certain users when they had a certain option enabled in Kodi) so that I could close/exit back to the home menu.

I do agree in some ways though that a sort of hybrid approach may be the best in the long term.

For now (as I'm back at work from tomorrow) I will leave it as it is and come back to it once it has rolled out to a bigger audience to gauge feedback.

That makes a lot of sense Smile

Using script.skin.helper.service I managed to add In Progress episodes to the "old" nextup windows, as I really like the feature (and my wife does as well). Wink

Hopefully we'll get some more feedback and ideas from people about the postplay feature.

Is this a known issue, that the addon interferes with the 'Play next video automatically'-option? Obviously the option is no longer required, nevertheless it shouldn't end in a program crash ....

This issue hasn't been resolved in 1.0.31, right?
I would like to keep the option "Play next video automatically" enabled, because otherwise it is not possible to switch to the next episode pressing the "fast forward" button on the remote.
(I suppose when disabled kodi does not build a playlist and without playlist you can press "fast forward" as many times as you want...)

I do not use that feature and have not currently got the time to test it. Can you give it a shot and report back...I do not think it will crash anything anymore as the postplay happens after playback has completed....now weather it pops up with you having play next video automatically selected is somewhat of an unknown at this stage...again I think it will be fine..but need you guys to confirm/deny.

Hello im85288,

- in the 'normal mode' the addon still crahes when 'play next video automatically' is enabled
- using the post-play screen it works normally, when the option is enabled, the next video starts without interrupt (it is running in the background, one can hear the audio, but the pp-screen is shown)

But: something seems to be wrong on my system. Wether I use the titan or the confluence skin, the post-play screen just shows the previously shown episode, nothing else, no 'next episode' I could choose.
(on my test system I just added six episodes of two different series to the library ('A-Team, season 1, episode 4,5 and 6 and 'Arrow', season 1, episode 1,2,3))

I updated to version 1.0.31 tomorrow. But every time I start up Kodi, I'm getting an error message. In the logfile I find this line: No module named simplejson.

How can I fix this error? Running Kodi on Android.

How did you get it to look like that? I really like the above views.

Thanks.

That's the Rapier skin.

To get the In Progress as well for the nextup notification you need the latest development version.

I rolled back to a previous version from a back up, to fix this issue temporary.

Thanks for the report, I'll look into this today and report back.

The issue with module simplejson should now be resolved. You can either wait for the official version to get into the kodi repo (usually 3-7 days) or try 1.0.32

Hello, thanks for reporting back. So with the new post play mode it is not crashing anymore (which was one of the aims of this change) so that is good news. I'm not sure though why you are having the other issues you reported...very strange. It uses exactly the same rules for finding the next episode as it does in the older mode so I am at a loss to suggest what else you can do.

Wait, this has changed? I love and use the original Next Up all the time and don't want it to go away. Couldn't they just be 2 separate addons? Next Up and Post Play?
