Hello,

I have kodi on Win8.1. After upgrading to kodi 17.1, I am facing a problem that when I press Stop on a playing movie , It always go back to the top of the video library in stead of staying at previous selection. Probably just a setting is messed up, but i could not find it. Please help . Thanks.

What skin are you using, movie or TV library and what view?

I am using the default non-touch skin on List view for movies. see attached picture. If I stop playing Birdman, it should back to this snapshot with Birdman highlighted, however, now it moves all the way up to the beginning of the list.

I can confirm this behaviour with the confluence skin. I'm also fairly sure it happened in jarvis as well as krypton.

To me, it only happens on 17.1, but the strange thing is that this issue doesn't occur on my other two PCs(running win10) with same version Kodi(same default skin).

Can not confirm this behaviour, try as I might 'list view in 'Estuary' always brings me back to the cover just played, regardless of how I entered into the selection. Problem with perhaps the video cache either lost or too big? It never happened in Jarvis for me, but have seen a few messages about this over time, so either some bug crawls in or a combination of settings or add-on and this pops up.

For the adventurous with this issue, can you copy out the guisettings.xml in your userdata folder, save it off to a safe place. Start Kodi and this file will be rebuilt with default settings (don't panic) see if this has the solve. If not quite Kodi, copy the saved guisettings back to it's home overwriting the existing and we'll look elsewhere for the fix.. If this does work, then there's something in the settings that offers conflict.

Make sure "Play next video" is turned off in settings, it's been known to cause this issue

Ah, yes that's the behaviour as noted in these posts.

Thanks for all helps. Yes, changing "Play Next video" to "OFF" fixed the problem. Wish the problem can be resolved even with that setting is on

yeah i need play next video on automatically as i use it alot.

I am having the same issue. I have set Play next video to off. Also, renamed GuiSettings which set everything to default and the behavior still there. The same going back to the top happens when you set a video as watched. It use to select the next video in the list but now instead it goes back to the top.

Windows 10
Kodi 17.1 Mar 20 Build.
MySQL 5.5

This did not exist for me in v16 - -.

I tried the default skin and Confluence.

I believe it was introduced with the new list format. All Videos, Watched, UnWatched. If you are viewing the list as All Video and you set a video as watched it use to select the next item in the list. Now it stays on the item you have selected.

yeah im so over this bug,. but cant see anyone even trying to fix it. multiple threads and multiple reports. not a single test build or anyone trying to fix it. Sad

Is there a bug report on trac? I would check but I can't search on it at the moment I keep getting SQL errors.

If there isn't one then it might be an idea to post one it will probably get more traction than posts in the forum.
