Release Best of NHK
#91
Lightbulb
I have resolved the issue :

For users running LibreELEC version 8.x with the default Estuary skin , navigate to "System" > "Skin Settings" > "Artwork" and then ensure that "Show media fanart as background" has been disabled.

Thanks for sharing your fix. Might be good to create a thread in the Linux forum so other LibreELEC users are aware of this potential problem and the config fix.
Anyway, hope you continue to enjoy Best of NHK add-on.

For LibreELEC 8.0.1 ( Kodi 17.1 ) installations - using the default Estuary skin - note that there is a strong likelihood that the Best of NHK add-on will cause LibreELEC to crash + reboot if a background video stream is playing while navigating within the Best of NHK in the foreground to play a different stream ( e.g. An NHK Live HD stream is playing and then Back is selected , "NHK World On Demand" is selected , and then a particular on demand program is selected to play. Sad ).

Pausing the background video stream and then navigating within the Best of NHK in the foreground to play a different video stream will resolve the issue ( An NHK Live HD stream is playing and then Pause is selected , Back is selected , "NHK World On Demand" is selected , and then select a particular program is selected to play. Big Grin ).

Note that LibreELEC version 8.0.2 ( Kodi 17.3 ) seems to have resolved the previously reported Best of NHK crashing issues.

Hi, The add-on does not control the video cache (buffer), that is controlled to kodi itself.

Before I point to the wiki explaining how to increase the cache size, please also consider things affecting your network speed. Things like is your player hardware on wifi or lan? For instance I had one kodi player on wifi which constantly stuttered and buffered the video and no matter what changes I made via software setting did not resolve the issue. I was also having occasional drop out of wifi connection to my work laptop. The final fix was to replace my aging wifi router with a new one. My living room kodi player is always connected by lan and never has any issues.

Anyway, here's the wiki link which will explain how to modify kodi's video cache (buffer) size.

If you have not done this stuff before, take it slowly so you can digest the information and read it 2 or 3 times so you have a good understanding of how to implement the change. Please be aware that changing the buffer size may not resolve the problem. The problem is usually related to network speed from video hosting server to your local machine, network conditions like poor wifi signal (blocking by walls, etc.).

Hope that helps.

Thanks misty for your detailed explanation, my problem is unrelated with the local network because Kodi is connect to the Internet via router on the LAN.  I added the buffer according to the wiki and streaming of on demand video really get improved!
