v17 Grid for Krypton
(2018-03-13, 14:55)Master Kevlar Wrote: Been about 10 years since I paid attention to technology. I couldn't even quote the repository link properly for this reply...

How do you install backgrounds again? If I use that repository link you posted above, where do I actually insert the address to extract the zip?

Wow I think I really need to take a computer class. And I'm the person that fixes everyone's computers at work and home.

You can use this guide for installing add-ons like my repository: http://wiki.kodi.tv/index.php?title=HOW-...a_zip_file

Thanks for the update!

However:
I tried to download 1.6.0 through the repository, which I found here: https://gitlab.com/jeroenpardon/reposito...nd-install

However, Kodi doesn't seem to connect to the repository. See debug log snippet:

I tried deleting the repository and re-installing it. Also found a version 1.0.1 on github, but alas, that also didn't work.

Am I the only one for whom this doesn't work? Or is something wrong with the repository?

I am not getting any of the recent updates of either the Krypton or Leia release. I have no idea what is going on. I suspect an issue with Gitlab as I currently can't even push changes to the repo.

I uploaded 1.6.0 to Github for now. Get it here and install manually please.

The left press (d-pad) for opening sub-menu and right press (d-pad) to close and get back to main menu, is much easier than GRiD's dropdown submenus, at least in my experience. I don't have much experience with skin modding, but is it something that might be possible?

No, sorry. Reasoning
Ah well... I almost feel stupid to say this, but I had read the FAQs before posting the question... but tiny little hope that it maybe possible to mod overcame the knowledge of the fact that you said it'll require significant rewrite.

Still, let's say if I decide to challenge myself and try to modify/rewrite the menu behaviour... can you point me in some general direction where/what should I look at first? Some kind of documentation about working on menu system for skin, or tutorial if you would like to recommend?Image already added

I think your best bet would be to take a look at the horizontal menu and to transform that into a vertical menu, as that is more similar (structure wise) to what you want. Changing the <onup>, <onleft> actions will get you started, after that it's a matter of changing the dimensions and orientation of the menu.

Great... thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully I get some time to actually turn this into weekend project. Will update my experience here when I do. SmileImage already added

I have tried both all fanart, and movie library.

Try rebooting the device, fanart grabber sometimes doesn't kick in without a restart. If that doesn't help a debug log is needed as it is working on my end.

On a related note, it seems that a longstanding issue in the skin helper addon that was preventing me from switching to that for global backgrounds has been fixed recently. So I might start using that instead of fanart grabber.
I have the same issue, no fanart show in home screen.

I'm on Grid 1.6.1 but have the same problem with 1.5.0
I've already had this issue before and only installing kodi from scratch solved it, but this problem repeats itself, I did not managed to understand why...

I've tried uninstalling & delete the following addons + userdata directories with no success

Grid
script.grab.fanart
script.skin.helper.backgrounds
script.skin.helper.widgets
skin.shortcuts
skin.helper.service.widgets

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

a different problem I have experienced in version 1.6.1

I cannot enter any setting for any of the addons
they all look like the following screenshot:

I also backed up my kodi from Android and restored it in Windows and experienced same issues in windows

First of all, I removed the debug log you posted as it contains references to banned add-ons. I didn't want to ignore your questions completely because they aren't related to the banned add-ons, but refrain from posting anything referencing banned add-ons again. More info: https://kodi.wiki/view/Official:Forum_ru...ed_add-ons

As the log also contains references to windows that exist only in Leia it seems you are using a Leia build of the skin on a Krypton Kodi install, which would also explain the add-on settings being messed up as control ID's were changed in add-on settings Windows between Krypton and Leia.

I'm not sure about leia code , but I did not install leia skin or build,

I started fresh kodi install on android & windows and installed skin.grid.krypton-1.6.1.zip
and still have the same problem on addon's settings
Grid 1.5.1 and older works fine

You're right, seems something went wrong on Git recently causing Leia specific changes to get pushed to the Krypton version. Working on correcting this.

Hey could you tell me how did you manage to get hubs like "In-Cinema" or "Popular movies", what addon did you used to achieve this?

HI Jereon,
When copying in the file manager there doesn't seem to be anything showing the progress of the transfer.  Would it be possible to make the top right bar progressively fill as the transfer progresses?  I think there might be a percentage but some of our family videos have long file names and they don't scroll enough to see it.  On a Rpi2 you really have to wait for the transfer to finish before playing so you don't overload the unit and its helpful to know how long you have to wait........i.e: do I stand and watch or make coffee Smile
