Thanks but doesn't help. Did you see the link? Where did you think I got the CoreElec image from?
Was hoping Kodi team elites might have a clue

The Kodi team elites are not the ones who are baking CoreELEC's cakes. We use different recipes, so to speak.

It seems like it should show Player.Art(thumb). Maybe that's not being set for recordings that are playing?

First let me explain I'm primarily using Libreelec. On both X86 Zontac with nvidia graphics and Amlogic Odroid-C2 boxes. The reference to Coreelec above is because it's geared to Amlogic devices (github sources from Libreelec). Don't think Libreelec had the odroid-c2 image available then and that's why I tried coreelec. BTW: Libreelec (LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.arm-8.90.004.img.gz) has the same issue as Coreelec.
One of the problems is trying to get support. Is it a Kodi issue? Is it a Libreelec issue? Is it a Coreelec issue
I've recently changed from Schedules Direct to using zap2it (zap2xml). Gives more EPG data and it's free. If you look at the "it's missing" link above that redirects you to the Coreelec site it shows some screenshots I've posted. The first one shows the missing channel icon with program info. The second screenshot shows the channels and has the correct channel icon pulled from Tvheadend (nothing local on Kodi) and program info. The third screenshot is the EPG that actually has a show icon and program info. BTW the show icon is one of the reasons I've moved away from Schedules Direct because it doesn't provide it.
The info key when watching OTA recordings shows channel icon along with title and program info about the current recording. Works just fine on Libreelec 8.2.5 that's running Kodi v17

This is something I've suspected because the channel icon obviously exists as shown in the channel display in Kodi. Also applies to other skins because I've tried others. There is a change in the UI between v17 and v18
