Grouping Genres?
#1
Hello all,

I've always used a 3rd party scraper to create an nfo for my movie collection.  Over the years I've collated some identical but different named genres attached in the nfo.  eg: Sci-Fi, Sciecne-Fiction and Science Fiction.  So this of course means I have those 3 genres showing up in Kodi.

A bit of a long shot but is it somehow possible to get Kodi to group the genres together?  So eg: I would only have Science Fiction showing under Kodi but any movies that have Sci-Fi in the nfo would be listed as well.

Or is it just going to be easier to use notepad++ to batch edit the nfo files?

Thanks and cheers

No, there is no way to group or bulk edit genre names within Kodi.

Some possible options...

1. Your suggestion above
2. Use the Chorus2 Web Interface to edit them
3. Edit in the database. (this one at your own risk. take a backup first)

Thanks for confirming though.

In music there has been some thought about having a hierarchical genre structure which would probably work in this case, but currently I don't think it is a high priority for any active developer (compared to some other things that could be implemented).
