we do not distribute binaries for linux in the same automated manner, it's a more complex task due to system library usage. we hope to get it working the same way at a later stage, but it's not yet in place.
if you use the ppa for ubuntu (looks like it), it's available from there, kodi-vfs-rar, but i doubt the newest version has been built yet, since i just fixed it..

thank you!
I installed the package...enabled the addon...then modified addon.xml with that additional line and now most stuff (everything I tried) seems to work

I'm another Leia user that misses the unrar on the fly functionality.  Enter a directory with rar files now show as empty.  I thinkI need to install this new VFS addon.
But I can't find the VFS addon from Kodi using the search facility.

https://kodi.tv/addons  <- no VFS addon found
https://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/leia/
  vfs.rar+android-aarch64/
  vfs.rar+android-armv7/
  vfs.rar+osx-x86_64/
  vfs.rar+windows-i686/
  vfs.rar+windows-x86_64/

Now I'm running OSMC which is linux.  I wonder if it doesn't show up as there is no linux build?

linux binary addons are not available on the repo, it's your maintainers job to package them. In your case, it's OSMC.
Did you try: apt install kodi-vfs-rar? At leasts that's how we name the rar addon in our ubuntu ppa

Thanks for the quick response.  It was installed/disabled.
OSMC said "Update: Found one issue, the repo has moved back to https://github.com/xbmc/vfs.rar
On the nightly its still pointing to https://github.com/notspiff/vfs.rar which is 2 commits behind.
I’ll update the binary repo and include the latest in the next nightly. Hopefully it fixes it."

Hopefully that will fix the issues as I can now see the uncompressed mkv, but I get errors in kodi.log.
ERROR: Unable to lookup host: <location/path>
ERROR: Open - failed to open source <location/path>
ERROR: AddOnLog: RAR archive support: GetDirectory: rar lib returned no files in archive , likely corrupt

Per above post, latest nightly made no difference.
I copied the rar files onto a local disk and ran into same issue.
Any help appreciated rotizurusu.kodi (paste)

FIXED.  I wasn't on the latest nightly compiled by OSMC.

Multi rar seems to be broken for me in release 18.0 "Leia". My Android TV automatically updated from v17 to v18 and now It can't detect movies that were detected before. Tried reinstalling Kodi altogether and also installed the Add-on RAR archive support but nothing works. The only problem is with Multi rar files, .mkv files works as expected. Has anyone else experienced this?

Kodi 18.0 Git: 20190128-d81c34c For Android

Same problem here, I installed the addons of VFS rar. But it does not work anymore with split rar. If I come back to the V17 everything works

Solved it. Only using vfs.libarchive and doing a reboot (!). I am on libreelec.
