You have a nightmare here

All I wanted to do is find some basic data and I couldn't find anything useful.  It isn't like I don't know anything I did write my own PVR with library but I was dumb enough to do it in VB6 so now I have nothing.

How's this for a dumb question that I couldn't find a place to post

How do I turn the Library right side up?  It finds a TV series but only adds the episodes I have video files for?  Why would I want to know about some TV episodes in a series and not all?

Here's another one.
There is a feature that I called 'pick and play something'  It simply played the next episode in a randomly selected TV series off a user generated list from a series hadn't been played on that day.  It should be a core feature of a video library.  Where is it?  I saw some incomplete plugins.

Sorry for the attitude but it took me years to finish that useless entertainment system... You have no idea.  I can tell you that Kodi is okay as a user interface for a library but it's a no good as a Library management tool.

...Why would you want Kodi to index episodes you DON'T have?

Because I'm 65 years old and I can't remember not wanting to know stuff. :-)

My Library contains information on TV series that are of interest to me.  I still have missing episodes and I've been doing this since 1998 when I wrote a Perl script to operate a Spitfire remote so I could record both Stargate and Outer Limits on my VCR.  Got any Salvage I episodes? :-)

Now where did you have to go to find out that Salvage 1 was from 1979 and had Andy Griffith?  How many seasons?  How many episodes?  My Library was the other way around so I knew that stuff and that I needed/wanted them all.

As already stated, Kodi is not going to automagically invent episodes of TV series that are not present in your video collection. One alternative is to create 'stub files' for the missing videos if you want to have the information on those episodes.

There is a search function in Kodi. If it cannot find those videos, it's not in your video collection.

Kodi is not a content provider. You will have to find your content elsewhere.

And that's why I wrote my own.  Sorry you guys never figured it out, but it's a library of TV shows and movies not a library of stored files.  Kodi needs to be more then a file list and a place where outlaws can plug in their streaming stuff.

When they crush you guys for those plugins all I will be able to say is that they needed something more to justify their existence then a fancy file list.

Thank you and good-bye

Nope I must replace my library and related tools.  I was hoping Kodi was up to managing my collection.

I have been told 'no' and that Kodi is a streaming/player that list the details on playable video files.

Kodi is useful on my firesticks but clearly I need something different for the core.

I've unsubscribed from this thread so it can be closed and and my account deleted as this forum can't help and you don't need another engineer telling you how you should be doing things. :-)

Nothing against Kodi, I just need a bigger hammer.

Have fun

Am I old school to use IMDb for what the OP wants?

Well - i hope with 65 years i will be not that proud of my bash scripts that I think that only my ideas are the right ones and all others are doing it wrong.
At least I hope I can keep my thoughts to my own in case I am that proud.

Note to myself - stay calm and breath
