So for example Animatrix, I read this thread but it's old, has anything changed? I'm either fine on stacking if I don't have to remove filenames, I'm also fine on having each chapter as an independent movie but I have the scraping set to folders, and don't want to create a folder for each.
So just asking for if in 2019 there's an elegant solution to this or still need workarounds.

What do you have? 9 files and want them combined as one movie, or you have one file, but want them shown separately for each story?

What does the entry at TheMovieDB show?

Depending on your answer, why not combine the 9 files into one file using https://mkvtoolnix.download/

Yes, 9 files in one folder. I want them to show as 9 movies with their titles (currently I get random posters and a fixed title), or a single movie with its title and with chapter bookmarks, all while keeping the filenames and structure as it is (no extra folders, muxing, title removal, etc).
I just deleted the entries, so give me a second to check what the scraper says.

Ok. But how can you show them as 9 separate movies if TheMovieDB has only one entry?

What you will need to do is create NFO Files. The easiest way to do this is...
1. scrape the first movie as Animatrix.
2. Export the library to Separate files to get the NFO File
3. Copy the nfo file for the Animatrix movie, then adjust the data inside the file for your other 8 movies.
4. Rename the files to match the video file name
5. Scrape into the library. Make sure you have deleted the incorrect entries first.

Why not just combine into one file. That will take about 90 seconds compared to the half an hour it is going to take you to do the above steps.

I said either case is fine, 9 separate movies, or 1 movie (with chapter bookmarks). In this case there's also an entry for episodes under TVShows here. https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/62200-the-...uage=en-US

So the best approach is to create nfo files right? can I skip exporting the library?
So in summary:
-Before scraping, check the scraper site and title (only get Animatrix; one title under Movies section).
-Create an nfo with metadata for each chapter with, what reference titles?
-Rename the .nfo's to match the filenames
-Scrape

So the question is, if there's no chapter title in the scraper website, what should I write into that chapter nfo?

I read that as you did not want to do any muxing. But if you do, then like I said before, mux into one file. Then you only need to scrape the one movie. This will not show you chapters in the movie list.

Seeing as you found the tv show version of the same movie (which should not be there as it does not meet the requirements of tv shows) then why not scrape as a tv show?

The scraper sites don't have that info available, so that is now your decision. Look at the back of the dvd case, what are they called there? Google search? IMDB?

Ok, so I use a media manager for the nfo's, but the issue remains.
In a scenario where I have 9 chapters/files, let's say there's only one entry in the scraper "Animatrix". I don't want to mux, I want 9 movie entries with their title, poster, etc. What do I do from here since there's not such info in the scraper? Is this something that the media manager deals with?
Any help is welcome since I have many omnibus collections. Thanks for the help.

If you want the 9 movies separate, then the media manager is in the same situation as Kodi where there is no existing information to scrape. The only thing the Media Manager will do for you is make it easier to create the NFO Files. It is up to you to create the data and find the artwork.

The media manager can't search in several scrapers to find a match that you can validate? I'm just trying to find a method where I don't have to painfully go chapter by chapter adding info, poster, etc. (ie, searching on the TVShow section where chapters are listed)

You mean that even in Leia I have to manually search for cover, title, rating, duration, descriptions, etc for like 100 chapters in total (summing all my collections)? I though this kind of thing was already sorted, but thanks anyways.

If you find that information is missing from TheMovieDB, or IMDB or TheTVDB, then contribute back and update the information. After all, you are helping yourself to free information, be a conscientious user and contribute back.

Kodi is not the supplier of the information, we are just one of the many, many users of those 3rd party sites. Blaming Kodi for what you perceive as missing is wrong.

I miss smart scraping and multiscraping when necessary, that's what I think it should be doing. The omnibus I listed all have chapter information but the scraper doesn't retrieve them correctly. Check this, this and this. I'm ok with contributions when it is really necessary.

I feel like we have been going around in circles and figured you were just not understanding scraping.

So if all those chapters exist as movies, then have you named your video files correctly?

Give me a Debug Log which captures you scraping those movies.
