i did a search and found a few similar reports but nothing with a resolution.

on different systems,i am seeing all specials showing up in all seasons.

one system is windows 10 with the default skin, the other is nvidia shield with aeon nox: silvo.  Also, i see the same thing when viewing via the web interface.

So, for example, i have the show Taskmaster.  I have three specials for the show.  When I enter the series, i see the items for specials and the eight seasons.

When i look in season one, i see my three specials and the expected episodes.  same thing for seasons 2-8, the 3 specials and then the episodes.

Didn't there use to be a config option somewhere for this or something like it?

How are the files named?
What setting do you have for "Flatten TV Show Seasons?
Do you have custom nfo files for the episodes?  If so provide an example.

I tested this show using tvdb scraper id tt4934214 using the default date aired ordering.  It looks like all the specials are placed within seasons using the "special released" data from tvdb when it exists.  Specials without "special released" entry are only shown in the "specials" season (or "all seasons").

Thanks for the reply.  after reading this, i realized there was another piece i had not mentioned nor had I investigated it.  

I use Emby on the backend and while it showed everything as expected, i realized that it and/or the companion might not have the proper info to provide kodi.  I did a refresh of the metadata and everything shows up the way I expected.
