v18 Lyrebird MOD 0.9.9 (UPDATE: 2019-09-09)
Appreciate the enthusiasm. Smile

It will be released here initially, not on the repo. I haven't designed a distinct Lyrebird icon and fanart yet (currently still uses the Mimic icon and all) and rather than delay things further doing that I'll be releasing the 1.0 code here for everyone to hopefully enjoy and bugtest. During that time I can work on the icon / fanart, fix bugs then ship it to the repo.

As previous, there is a lot of new content and fixes. Consider it very substantial.

On all that is holy, it won't be long now. Big Grin

EDIT: I should mention that in the event of expanding and cleaning up Lyrebird, view names, option names, and other bits of loose text have been incorporated cleanly into the various English strings for the skin (AU / UK / US / NZ). As I have no command of other written languages, I cannot add these at this stage to other languages. If anyone can suggest something useful to quickly translate them (please don't suggest Google Translate) or can offer to change them into their respective language that would help. Otherwise I'm at a crossroad of deciding do I cut the already established languages outside of English or leave them there but have users stare at non descriptive items.

Depends if I get enough time this weekend to launch it otherwise it would be the next at the latest, rain or shine. There was something I wanted to finalize for it, something kinda special which is now done. Big Grin All that remains is a tiny bit of cleanup of the base code so if time is on my side this weekend, it'll happen then, if not next.

I understand if you'll "believe" it when you when you see it. Wink

But I've done all I want to do for now view wise and this last addition was me really trying some special out for people. I'm looking forward to sharing it!

Heh! I've started the process of uploading things, there was a power out so I didn't complete and had to call it a night. So either tonight or tomorrow, we're good to go! Big Grin

You can see a tiny preview of the changes on the second post in the thread as one of the things that did go OK was that. Tongue

Where do you get your boxshot image? the square? custom? I get that the steam banner is from steam.. thats easy enough.. but ive always wondered where that square image is from.. a 16x9 landscape image would IMO been a better option. since those are more readily available?

im VERY VERY happy about going from 8x3 to 6x3.. allows for better reading. and allows for the banners to be shown off better ;p

Glad you like the changes. As for boxshots, these are not uncommon, you just have to know what to look for, and for future PC games it is a far better option than trying to get the standard DVD case style art (the artwork is clean, no ratings, reviews, or PC-DVD ROM signs plastered all over them).

1. Go to Google Images.
2. Change the Size of images searched to 'Exactly' and put 1024 x 1024 as your values.
3. Search for the game you're after.
4. Enjoy. Smile

Boxshots are also mostly commonly used for PS3 / PS4 / Switch downloadable titles, seems to be some loose standard they all use, but most other things turn up too. I have about 200 PC games on my machine and I have boxshots for all of them. It looks worlds better than DVD case art.

Hi, is it all uploaded to github yet then? Appears that it's not quite ready/stable (v0.9.9 and not v1.0), that right?

@kurosh

0.9.9 codebase which is currently on the Github is not complete and is missing a few elements which are going up by Friday to complete everything.

Namely...

- Fixed strings for multi-languages.
- Options being accessible for the new views.
- Some other minor tweaks.

The main content is all there only some minor tweaks are to be done and then it is good to go.

@Rufoo new update looks really sleek. Just following up regarding bringing the Kodi Lyrebird UI to the browser-based gaming service I'm developing. I think it's going to be perfect! At the moment, we have a WebGL version up (that runs on Javascript) but a native-like GUI is going to be key to providing a next-level user experience on the web. I like the wider Steam covers, and that's what we're planning on going with. However we would like to have 4-5 games max from end to end from both sides of the screen, then the user has to scroll down to view more games. With the background art seamlessly blended with the game description. Something like these screenshots is what I'm thinking, design wise -

These are from Advanced Launcher, but was thinking you can take this layout and provide it for the custom Lyrebird UI we will be using. Will be excitiing to see it run in the browser once the forked final product is ported and running on the web Big Grin

@Rufoo So will this be completely uploaded soon. It seems to keep getting pushed back to weeks/months at a time after being told it will be uploaded? You mentioned everything was going to be uploaded to be complete last Friday. I really don't mean to sound like an jerk and please don't take it that way. Tongue
