Hi,
I recently had to move my tv-show HD to a new server, since i upgraded an old Pi2 to a Tinkerboard and i have my samba file server there..
The only way i knew was to just configure the new video sources in Kodi through new samba connections to the new server.

But since it was the same data drive attached to it, the same movies, same file structure, etc. i thought there must be a better way?

Isnt there a way to just shift the sources.xml to the new smb://hostname/ so Kodi doesn't reset watched files and i dont have to add new sources and rescan everything?

I don't think this will be the last time i encounter this, the new Raspberry Pi 4 is out and i'm considering an upgrade, for both my media player and "server"

The 'problem' is that every single video is stored into the video database with its complete path in several database tables, and including the file protocol. You could alter thoaw directly in the video database if you are SQL-savvy enough.

Otherwise, it's best to do a full Video Library Export (using separate files, preferably) so that all metadata of your video collection is stored into nfo files, as well as their fanart. Don't forget to activate the options for watched status and resume points in the advancedsettings.xml file. After that, you can do a scan using a new library.

The new Raspberry Pi 4 is only viable right now when using Kodi via LibreELEC, but it still has a number of rough edges.

Thanks, i did a full video library export, did a search and replace for the hostname and just imported the library file back (after cleaning). Now they are running off a new server with watched status intact, awesome!
