I was trying to use ip-api from a corporate network.
They tell me the tools mark it as a malicious domain. Anyway of disprove this? 

It's a required element, not sure why it's on a "malicious" list. It impacts privacy since it uses IP geo location provide by your ISP.

If malware/hackers are burglars... Would you give burglars your home address??

You have to weigh risk vs. reward. In this case ip-api.com is safe and the information gathered is no greater than an average website.

If I were you, I would not install anything on a work computer, that's what your IT department is for.

From the link above, ip-api.com had some IP leakages in the past, that's why they prefer to block it (not high-risk, though)
You can get an IP address just doing a random ping, or you can get a home address just looking on google maps. The question is what do you correlate it with.
IP and geography correlation doesn't seem to be of particular interest
From what I was told, problem would be if a host infected with some malware was using ip-api.com. But I guess I fail to see a practical example.

I have Kodi on an android box. When I browse channels, I can only see a plain text menu. Is this expected? I saw there was mention of a cool skin

Click 'Guide' to open EPG. 

IT opens. But the top right window just shows a picture sometimes for some channels. I cannot select any channel to watch from the EPG. Is this expected?

Hi - I'm in Australia using a SmartDNS service which works perfectly via Chrome/a web browser but when going through the addon it gives the region error. From reading some past comments I can see why this error is generated as when I visit " http://ip-api.com/json" it shows I'm in Australia etc.

Why is there a region check? Is it there to satisfy any possible copyright infringement claims?

But  in Kodi it always knows I'm in Australia. The Smartdns works flawlessly with everthing, even Netflix. Heck, I can even watch Xumo on my Roku with no dns, So I'm wondering whether the Pluto and Xumo Kodi addons are defeating my dns deliberately and if so why, or whether it is an accident or oversight. If the latter, can it please be fixed?  I'm a big admirer of your work but this is driving me crazy cos I keep clicking and hoping and clicking and hoping....I'd be happy to test anything for you.

Kodi does not support the use of DNS/VPN to circumvent regional lockouts. Any attempt to bypass your region is considered piracy.

That's odd because every single addon in the Kodi Repository that I have tested works flawlessly with my dns proxy. Some even have the proxy or vpn built right into them. Now this might just be because using a vpn is not illegal. Some people/corporations don't like it, but it is not illegal. I suspect that if Kodi operated according to the dislikes of corporations it would either not exist or be a corporation paywall.For the record, I don't use illegal addons at all.I'd be interested to know if everyone shares you view because if they do, somebody had better get to work deleting most of the video addons in the Repository.

It is not a matter of what is legal, not legal or what view other people have.

Kodi works perfectly fine without a VPN, so there is no technical reason to use one. As such, we do not provide support for it as we see it as a 3rd party modification to your setup.

If you ask for assistance for a problem, we will not diagnose any problem while Kodi is running with a VPN setup. You need to replicate the issue without a VPN. In nearly all cases it is the VPN causing the problem so you should seek assistance from the paid help desk of your VPN provider.

Of course, you are free to use one as you see fit, but no support here for it. Read our VPN policy (wiki)

Keep in mind that not all services have strict geo locks and some do.

I have no issue at all with the neutral approach to vpns described above by Karellen. I support that approach and do not seek vpn or proxy support here, just an explanation as to why your addons behave differently to all others - and they do. I see now that if you adopted the same neutral approach as Karellan describes, they would work. But you are actively supporting the geoblocking. I saw that in your last update note. Ironically, Xumo is not geoblocked for me at all on Roku, but it is on Kodi. Nevermind. I can always just open my browser. And I understand now so I can uninstall instead of continually trying.

I totally love Kodi and am grateful to all contributors whether they agree with me or not.

I believe you are confused... I DO NOT add geo blocking based on my opinions, feelings or what have you.

Geo blocking is implemented in plugins only where the content provide/owner has implicitly taken steps to do so. I'm respecting their content ownership.

If you want to circumvent these restrictions; that decision is on you! My code reflects a non bias point of view, one that liens on the side of the law, and wishes of the content owner.

Same here.
I use it on 3 Raspberry Pi's with LibreElec 9.01/Kodi 18, and on all 3 Pi's PlutoTV just stopped working.
I watch PlutoTV quite a bit, hope it can be fixed.
