It's a required element, not sure why it's on a "malicious" list. It impacts privacy since it uses IP geo location provide by your ISP.

Why is IP exposure a problem?
If malware/hackers are burglars... Would you give burglars your home address??
You have to weigh risk vs. reward. In this case ip-api.com is safe and the information gathered is no greater than an average website.
If I were you, I would not install anything on a work computer, that's what your IT department is for.
