Can you describe why playing with fonts do so much?
It might be the last thing we can shrink?

that's not really the skin at fault it's xbmc at fault i tend to find with 33mb free i can watch around 6-7 40 min tv episodes before i have to restart xbmc to clear the memory.
B.T.W I now get 36mb free ram after playing around with the fonts i would never have considered the font' to be an issue so thanks for that feedback i will get round to updateing

What movie library view do you use?
In Media Preview i have 4MB of free mem some posters won't show and is impossible do play a movie.
The big posters view (slideshow?) returns 18-20 MB os free mem, other views report 30-32 MB.
I have my posters set to 512, could that be the reason for such a low free mem?

Switch your fonts to altdefault under the appearance settings you should notice about 2mb increase.

It's a wonder it works at all with so little memory, i guess you're outputting either 720p or 1080i? this would account for the extra drain on the xbox's resources mine is only outputting 480 on an old 16/9 28" tv

Oh, wow. I didn't realize that you've been using 480 this whole time we've been talking about memory. I'm using 720 and am only getting about ~1mb less free than you. I guess that's why.

I've added free memory to my home screen below the clock. It's not too pretty yet, but it is useful for testing purposes.

That explains the difference. Have you tried changeing fonts to altdefault or any of the others as they do make a big difference to memory

Im using altmassive as like Agitator said frees up 4mb of ram. Now, is it possible to include a even more friendly font?

OK maybe I am just getting lazy or lost too many brain cells... I have downloaded the 3 items in Pauls signature. I copied over to the skins folder and I am using MediaStreamMod (I have been for some time now just an older version I think).

My question is where do you find the "altMassive" fonts that you are mentioning? I only have Massive, Default, and Bigger available in the appearance screen. Have I missed something?

yes but didnt they only get the hulu plugin to work in the Jan. build (before hulu broke it again). Would that be the 3MB?

And for those who wants some own testing
Search for all Mediastream versions you can find plus mods,
now rename all textures (find in media folder of the Skin)to textures1 textures2 textures3 ..... copy all this textures.xpr into the mediastream v1
media folder!
tada you can choose the textures fast from whithin the Skin!
Test yourself what textures are best for you!

The best for me is the one from paul called MediaStreamV1_lite
the textures is about 15,7 Mb
From my experience all others textures if 5Mb or 11Mb results in less memory!

Ok i don't mind people complaining but please do post in the correct thread as this thred is for Mediastream V1_lite. as to your question regarding versions the mod version uses version 0.5 and please no wise cracks about my name at least i use my real name unlike most people
