Crashes when scanning RAR files
#1
Hi!

I have read that the TVDB have had some issues, but it seems to be a long time ago. Mine has been acting up for 2-3 weeks, keeps crashing my Kodi. I am running Libreelec and don't have many addons in general. I do however use mysql as backend for meta-data, since I have two kodi installations.

Almost regardless which tv-series I try to scan, my Kodi crashes. I have tried to review the logs, but can't find anything. I even switched content-scanner and back again to clear all old data. Didn't help. My Linux skills are fairly high and I have used Kodi since long before it had that name. I am not to familiar with what's under the hood though. Please advice on what I can do.

Attached log, with debug available.

It looks like Kodi is crashing when scanning your RAR files. I don't have a lot of experience with RAR files and the associated add-ons, but I do note you have both Archive addons activated. My understanding is that you install and use one, not both otherwise they both fight each other.

Maybe @spiff could comment as it seems another wave of these types of reports is starting, this being the third in two days.

@alwinus has rewritten the rar add-on, however, this looks to be a bug in kodi core, not the add-on. the FindNFO function is recursing into oblivion.

Ok, thanks @spiff

I guess nothing can be done until the bug in core is fixed. Any workaround?

I haven't been home, so I am sorry for answering slowly.

I hadn't realized I had duplicate archive addons. I had installed RAR Archive several years ago, and the other was auto-installed as a dependency to another. My tests shows that Kodi stops crashing if I disable one of them, regardless of which I disable. So to me it seems like @Karellen really found the issue.

I having some other parsing/library issues as well, but I will investigate them further so I understand them myself before bringing them up.
