Music/Audio DVDs
#1
Hi,

i already searched a bit in the forum but didn't find all info i was looking for. i found xbmc some weeks ago and started grabbing my CD collection as a flac/cue combo for playback with xbmc. for audio only that's absolutely perfect for me. as a collector i have loads of CDs and some of them have multimedia tracks or bonus DVDs. i found out, that there's the possibility to mark videos as music videos to have them appear in the music database. that's a nice feature too but there are 2 things i missed so far:

- music videos do not enqueue in music database's party mode
- music videos don't show up in an album (provided in the .nfo file)

main goal is to even grab my music DVDs as single tracks (works perfect with tmpegenc) to use them in party mode as single videos OR have the possibility to view all files of the DVD in their original order. at this time i only managed to have all videos show up under the artist in alphabetical order :-(
best solution would be an iso file of the dvd with a chapter list (equivalent to flac/cue) but i doubt that something like that exists.
are there users with similar problems and how do you solve/workaround this ?

thanks in advance

stefan

p.s.: is there a way to store (and display) more info about an album (release date, musicians ...) ? thought of a plugin that reads this info from the cue file (user defined tags as remarks)

sadly music and video cannot be combined in the same library

music videos queue fine in party mode as long as you instruct it to. set the playlist type to mixed, not music.

thank you, didn't know that ... i'll try it tomorrow

any idea about the music DVD issue ? i tried to add an "<episode>" tag in the .nfo to have the tracks in their correct order but that didn't seem to work. the "<album>" tag also isn't used by the video library. would it be possible to create a playlist for every DVD "album" to play the files in their correct order ?

i thought about the DVD chapter thing a bit and had the following idea:

wouldn't it be possible to create a cue file containing the chapter information ? as far as i know a dvd can contain up to 99 titles named VTS_xx_y.vob (with xx being the title number, y the file number) that can have up to 99 chapters each. so the cue file would have a maximum of 99 files with up to 99 tracks each. xbmc could use this information as it does in the audio library giving you the possibility to jump directly to/play a single chapter (here: music video) in party mode plus you could play the dvd as it is.
