Although the quality of the default music playback is already very good, I was surprised to note the lack of a graphic equalizer and where video sound is concerned, there doesn't appear to be the usual audio options of cinema, cathedral, large hall, etc. I scoured the online repository looking for such an add-on but came up blank. Is such a thing available but perhaps only as an integral component of an add-on named otherwise than graphic equalizer, please?

I'm running a Bose Lifestyle 535 system and surprisingly, it doesn't have any of those options. That said, I have a much cheaper Logitech 5.1 system in my office and that does have the sound effect options but no graphic equalizer.
It certainly isn't a make or break deal because, as I said previously, the default sound quality is already very good. It's just that I like boosting the base and I know others prefer a midrange or treble accentuation. It's really not a biggie where video is concerned however, music is another story.

Yes, that's true but it's not the same as a graphic equalizer which allows you to visually change all the sliders to get the sound precisely as you want it.

Also true. But as said. Such a function should be provided by the amp in use. I have to admit, that my Rotel pre-amp doesn't have an equalizer as well and I was never in need of one. But I can see the usecase in your case. So the only option you have is to buy a better sound system

Maybe you could set VLC as an external player for music.

The Kodi DSP worked OK for me, though I didn't really have a use case. But it was abandoned I guess considered to have some incurable defects.

VLC EQ for music does work. first you need to set the EQ levels in video mode and then go to music mode. The EQ will then work in music mode. Its kind of stupid, but it works. they are working on fixing it for the next release.

I was also looking for an equeliser for kodi and I read the posted comments with some frustration. I started using computer audio in 1998 as a mobile DJ, playing mp3 at the time. Initially using winamp but then discovered excellent software, BPM studio. This is very feature rich software, including a graphic equaliser, mixer, automatic gain control and much more. It is really good software and im running a virtual box with win xp only to be able to still use this software. Anyway, I believe a raspberry pi (running Kodi) has a much more powerful processor and running at higher speed than the average pc I used in those days, so why does the comments suggest that graphic equaliser is so difficult to accomplish on raspberry pi 3B or 4?
