I have a very weird problem here. I switched from the Fandango Kodi to this one. Fandangos was already excellent, no issues with HDR.
Now with the merged master I have an issue with HDR.
I run an AMD Asrock DeskMini connected to a Philips Oled TV. When I start any HDR Video, the signal is being send, the TV/Windows says HDR signal incoming, but the video is not played in HDR but way to dark. I can always switch and compare to Fandango and there it works.
Settings 'use displays hdr capabilities' is on.
Any ideas?

@_novalis :

Maybe a little cleaning is needed in the installation as there may be remnants of files that do not belong to Kodi main branch.

Uninstall Kodi from Windows control panel Add/remove programs (!!!!not delete profile settings) and check in C:\Program Files\Kodi that folder is empty or not exist. Delete it all if exist some file in.

Then in C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata rename guisettings.xml and advancedsettings.xml to guisettings.xml.bak and advancedsettings.xml.bak (multimedia libraries, watched status, etc. are not affected with this).

Install new Kodi and re-configure settings from scratch following "RECOMMENDED SETTINGS" from first post.

If you continue with troubles post debug log to know more from your system.

And if you need install again Fandango's fork maybe is a good idea install it in a custom location e.g. "C:\Program Files\Fandangos" in this way they can coexist two installations.

I always install new versions as portable. So they shouldn't come in touch with other versions.

The interesting part here is that the TV gets the signal and shows an info popup for 'HDR Signal'.
But the content is almost black.
In contrast to the Fandango Kodi...

As I said before, if you want me to help you post debug log........

And specify if you have followed the configuration of the first post.

I'm not a fortune teller and you have to give your information...

The only information you give is that with Fandangos works fine (this sounds like the "problem is yours").

You have to understand that I am not going to change anything just because it doesn't work for you (for other people it does). So it's probably YOU who have to change something in YOUR configuration/setup.

I have tried a bunch of settings. And I also tried the settings from the first post. Although most of them don't apply to my problem.
I didn't want to sound like "problem is yours" just like "this is my problem"
I have also checked the debug logs. Nothing of help in there.
Looks like the issue can be fixed by togglefullscreen.
Never mind. I'll stick with Fandango for now and let some time pass until the master branch gets more mature.
Thank you for your thoughts.

There are many things that can be tried to try to solve the problem.... but you are still reluctant to publish debug log.... this is of course not helpful at all.

Still I can suggest things (but surely you will say that you have already tried everything):

- Set Windows desktop refresh to 30 Hz
- Set "Delay after change refresh rate" to 0 s.
- Set Full screen mode to windowed full screen
- Set graphics control panel to YCbCr 4:2:0

This is so because not all systems support HDR at 60Hz due to different reasons (usually HW limitations).

How can you say that my system would not support 4k60Hz. Didn't I mention that I run Fandangis Kodi with no issues.
And I have tried all possible settings related to the player and display within Kodi. And I am not willing to reduce Windows refresh rate or anything related to the color space. That would be nonsense.
And as I said Fandango works without tweaking all that stuff. So it is some internal Kodi matter. The fact that toggeling Fullscreen resolves the problem indicates that as well.

I was using Fangangos or Wanilton previously & I understand your frustrations.
After merging, there are V19 nightly releases and then current 4.0.X versions(using nvidia GPU GTX1650).
I was having stuttering & tearing problem after I switched over from Fandangos/Wanilton.
As there are Nvidia users who had no problem reported, I decided to do a clean install of Nvidia & Kodi.
I resolved these issues by doing uninstall of all nvidia Drivers & geforce experience. (I tried before uninstalling just the Drivers alone, leaving the GeForce experience, but stuttering/tearing remains)
U need to do a full install of the nvidia driver package.
Then i do a clean install of nvidia 446.14 with its GeForce package.
I don’t know why, but it somehow solved my stuttering issue.
I’m not sure if your issue is the same, but when these weird issue happens, i guess it’s probably the last thing to try.

I’m now using the 4.0.3, not sure if there’s any difference to the nightly builds.
Also currently using nvidia latest driver 451.67.

I use a DeskMini from Asrock. I have no specific drivers installed. And I won't because I don't think it's necessary.
As long as Kodi is the only App that has problems playing a video correctly I don't want to tweak other layers. This is then potentially dangerous for other Apps. So the indicators here that are meaningful : Fandangos Kodi works fine out of the box. Kodi master switches to HDR mode after I toggle fullscreen.
I could add that I get a message 'unsupported video format' from my TV once I start a HDR video. It is difficult to tell, because those TV error messages can mean a lot of things. Fact is the video is played anyway. It's probably some hdr handshake cough...

This phrase is for framing and hanging a poster on the wall....hahaha please nobody waste time trying to help this person.

Refuses to post Kodi log.
It does not say what Windows 10 build# uses it.
It does not say the TV model.
It doesn't say what video driver # uses (it says it doesn't use any).
It says that it does not want to change any setting.

The only argument is "Fandangos works"

Maybe this message means that the TV does not support the video format that is coming....  (but nobody can know for sure because you keep the TV model in secret)

I myself could now install the Fandango's fork on my computer and say it "doesn't work" and it would be true because it doesn't work with latest NVIDIA 451.xx drivers (madVR doesn't work with these drivers either).

No offence but without posting a log and more details like drivers etc and I have no idea what pc you have just from a name no one can help you, I have both HDR versions installed, this is my main install and works perfect on nvidia and intel

Jogel has tried to help the best he can but again no info supplied and I get why he is frustrated

Do you take your car to the garage and say it doesn’t start but my other one does and not let them look at important info?

One app not working can still be the PC’s fault and not the programs

I always take those not wanting to post a log also as they have things they want to hide

We have no mind reading powers or other super human capabilities.

If you have no desire in cooperating with finding out the cause(s) of your problems with Kodi, such as via a simple debug log (wiki), then by all means, go waste your time on some other forum.
Also keep your attitude towards other forum users here to a civilized manner. After 160 posts you should know how things are done here.
