Can anyone please help? I'd love to know what the error log actually means so I can further troubleshoot.

As stated, I installed this Add-on a fresh installation of CoreELEC withl the same issue. Could it be CoreELEC's minimalism causing issues? Has anyone successful used Locast on CoreELEC/LibreELEC/OpenELEC?

Upon launching I get "We apologize but it appears that you are not currently located in the Designated Market Area to view this content" even though I am in fact in the designated area.
I'm able to view Locast fine on my PC browser.

What I've tried already:
  • Verified my Kodi device pings and curls ip-api.com perfectly. (Any other URLs for me to troubleshoot?)

  • Reinstalled a fresh copy of CoreELEC onto my SD-Card. Then installed and tried opening the Locast Add-on upon first initial boot.

  • Changed Kodi's DNS server to 8.8.8.8

Code:

Thanks all for the help. I found the problem, Pi-Hole default block list found the URL ip-api.com which the dev uses in this Add-on as malicious - which it technically is. Whitelisting it is a workaround. Thanks for creating this Add-on, Lunatixz

I have installed both Locast, and NFL from the Kodi repository and after they install successfully, when I launch them I get a message:
Locast:
"Locast error.  Check the log for more information."

NFL.com:
"Nfl.com error. Check the log for more information."

Other Addons have installed fine, I found the log under my user directory (Windows 10).
It logs a huge amount of information.  Is there some known issue with the installs of these addon's,
not sure how to read the log.

I have locast working from my browser.
Thanks,

I just noticed that when I launch Locast on the upper left menu it only says "Videos",
and the menu on the rest of the screen is:

Movies
Files
Playlists
Video add-ons

Seems to just die and place me in the Videos menu.   If I click on the "Video add-ons" sub menu I see "Locast" icon and can do it all over again.

Yes, I did find this tread before I posted.  However I did not find a fix for my problem.  I am in LA but on the Locast.org site it now includes LA, does Locast have a different set of cities?

Hi Lunatixz, I am an old retired systems engineer and took a look at your locast app.  I have made a few updates to the files to support the free version of locast instead of the purchased/subscribed version.  This includes fixing the settings file from "unknown" to actual dates to keep the app from throwing exceptions.  It now will automatically refresh the stream every 15 minutes allowing uninterrupted viewing.  During the refresh, a 5 second locast ad appears, that is all.  I have watched an entire football game with no issues.  I am not sure 1) if you want the updates and 2) what procedure on github you would like me to use to support the changes.  Considering it only interrupts 5 seconds every 15 minutes, it is very usable.

In short, I am getting the updated m3u8 URL and sending that to the Player() every 15 minutes if the stream is still active.  This makes it not terminate and go back to the uEPG screen.

After reading through the threads for Kodi and Locast I saw (more recent) that people were concerned with the ip-api.com being blocked somewhere between the Back plane of the computer and the internet.  I can however go to ip-api.com and run the demo as well.  Does my log file indicate what exactly is wrong because I don't know how to determine how to fix.  Not sure how to download from the beta site as well, any input would be appreciated.  I believe I am running Locast 1.05.  I also believe on of the smart users had indicated that you cannot use a VPN (Like NordVpn, ExpressVpn, IpVanish, ect...) with Locast.  Because of this (and if this is true), is there a way to have Kodi turn off, and turn back on the VPN because if you have this system in a public use area (like my Living Room) how will the users (Wifey and Kids) know what all is required for success.

Thanks,

There is no such functionality in Kodi, also because of our own VPN policy (wiki).

I have installed Locast on my Apple TV 4k and it works great.  Is there a version of Locast for Kodi (on windows) that installs and works.  This kind of eliminates any blocking on my isp, or routine, or geo location, or whatever.  It is on the same network.  Any help would be much appreciated.

@byron.hopp - your thread has been merged into the proper Locast support thread, to keep the forum tidy.
