#1
i am trying to get the symbol/character '' to show up in my music library. is this possible, if so how please?

additionally, is it possible to get the library to ignore special characters such as: single and double quotation marks " or ' parenthesis ( ) and brackets [ ] when sorting?

Thanks for any help

Thought i would post an status update in case anyone else is looking for a solution. While David1977's post did not work for me, it did point me in the right direction (thanks&kudos). I was able to get symbols (foreign characters) to work after following the guide found here http://forums.tvaddons.ag/threads/27548-...%28XBMC%29 (courtesy of dknlght). I am not sure if it was a combination of both solutions or just the the one referred to in the link. Just glad it works!

Happy new year to anyone!!

I use the 17.6 version of Kodi

I've this movie:
ESP² - Fenomeni paranormali

In the fields c00 and c10 of movie table of my db the title is correctly stored.

Image
The thumb&fanart ESP² - Fenomeni paranormali.jpg are correctly showed.

But the title are not correctly show:

The db have utf8_general_ci encoding.

Most likely the font used by the skin (maybe it is Aeon MQ?) does not have glyphs for that character (00B2 in the latin-1 supplement block).  You need to switch fonts if the skin provides others, switch skins to one that does, or hack the skin by replacing the skin's font with one that has that character.  Note that just switching font files can have side effects as the rendered layout of the font's characters may not be the same.

Thanks for your invaluable help.
All AEON-MQ skin fonts are fine except the default one.
Which was what I used Rofl

In the past I hacked the Aeon MQ 5 fonts to include many unicode characters by merging in other fonts.  But with MQ 6, Marcos went with a stylized set of fonts, though he did supply Greek and Cyrillic script variants.  But trying to extend those fonts -- it isn't easy as just merging in some other font won't look good unless you could find a similar font somewhere with the additional characters.  Note that for your own use you can do whatever you want to a font, but to release it for Kodi the font license needs to permit modification and publishing.
