v19 Blu-ray menu support compatibility
#1
What is the compatibility for showing Blu-ray menus when selecting that option when playing a Blu-ray? From my experience most work fine. I'm using the Windows version 19.1 of Kodi.

The only problem I've found is when playing Paramount blu-ray that have a language selection at the start before main menu.

When you start the blu-ray using the Show Blu-ray menu option. It plays the Paramount studio intro. Then displays a language selection menu before proceeding to the main blu-ray menu.

Its the language selection menu that doesn't display on any of the Paramount blu-rays that have it. Just shows a green screen. Menu still there and can move selection. Just can't see what the menu selections say. Most of the time you can select one of the option but its usually a guess. On the rare occasion it won't proceed past the menu on a few blu-ray and show the main menu.

The Paramount Plague continues in Kodi Omega.

This was also an issue in Kodi 20.2 - the Paramount intro plays, you get to the language selection menu (which is a barebones menu prior to the main menu on Paramount discs, allowing you to choose your language) - and you get a blue screen, with no menu options. Curiously, the menu of the Kodi videoplayer also stops working for me. On Kodi 20.2 it was a bright blue screen, on Kodi Omega 21, a darker blue screen which matches the background of the menu screen.

This same disc (actually a BDMV folder, but I do have the original disc as well) plays fine in PowerDVD, even in an older version (19 I think). You hit the menu, choose your language, move on to the disc's main menu.

Obviously the workaround is to use simplified menus with Paramount discs, but that's really no good for navigating special features etc.

As noted, some of these discs can be blindly navigated through, others you're stuck. One that gets stuck is The Truman Show 4K UHD release. There's just no getting through that language menu for whatever reason.

Maybe someone from Team Kodi can shed some light on this.
