Kodi v19.1 will not connect to home network, had to roll back to v18.9
#1
FWIW, I updated my Kodi to v19.1. Unfortunately, Kodi was no longer able to connect to my home network "Workgroup" share. It was able to see the share on the network, it just could not connect. Kodi gave me a number of error messages including that the network had been reset and another, Operation Not Permitted. In both cases, Kodi could see the home network share but not connect. After spending a few hours trying to tweak the settings from troubleshooting advice on the internet, I finally gave up, reinstalled Kodi v18.9, and everything worked just fine again without any adjustments to the default settings.

Thanks. Looks like I might have to create a static IP address to get v19.1 to work. Kodi v19.1 did not automatically connect to the SMB share on my setup by simply browsing to the share folder as in section 2. Window Network (SMB). Kodi 18.9 does connect automatically on my Amazon Fire TV Stick by browsing to the share folder and clicking OK.
