Release service.subtitles.subscene
Raeed, your log shows you're still on 1.9.6 not 1.9.7 yet.

HRTKING, thanks for your confirmation that it's working fine on Windows now!

v1.9.8 released with working Android-detection (at least on an Android mobile). However, accessing movies via NFS share on that mobile, the addon worked fine even with the linux setting. It still works via the non-linux branch eventually. I didn't figure out if or how I could test local files as Kodi refused to open the root filesystem. Give it a go and hopefully this will work for you.

Note that you don't have to manually update/install the addon if you add my Kodi repository to your Kodi and install it through there. https://github.com/AnonTester/kodi-repo/...-1.0.0.zip

Can someone please explain, in simple words, what is the difference between this
https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Subscene.com
and this
https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Subscene_Subtitles

I run 2 systems, one with kodi 18.9 and one with kodi 19.3, and I would like to have the same addon in both, so I think the second one is the preffered choice. I have never used subscene as a provider, it is my first time and I do it because I want to move away from opensubtitles completely.

This here https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Subscene.com won't work with Kodi 19 as Kodi 19 required addons to be written in Python 3 and not Python 2. Kodi 18 is the last version it works with and it was last updated 6 years ago.

While Kodi 19 was in development and the Python 3 requirement became apparent, pretty much every addon needed to be updated to work going forward. A lot of developers of older addons aren't maintaining it any longer, and someone else created copies and tried to fix it for their own purposes and/or to help the community. The copy may work exactly the same as the old version or it may have improvements.

https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Subscene_Subtitles appears to be such a copy of the original subscene.com addon as there's a credit reference on the githup page of Subscene_subtitles. It was last updated 2 years ago though and references Python3. It probably will not work with Kodi 18 but only with Kodi 19.

The original subscen.com addon from this thread was last updated 6 years ago by manacker, then forked by a couple of people who fixed or enhanced it and currently I'm maintaining it as best as I can when bugs or issues are reported. you can get the latest version from my kodi repository. It should still work with Kodi 18 as well as Kodi 19. Link to my kodi repo in the post just above yours.

Hope that helps.

Is there someway to download old version of your addon? I’m running Coreelec 19.3, and subscene doesn’t work. It downloads but mentioned there is no subtitle found. But when I checked the directory the subtitle is there.

please provide a debug log, then I can take a look at why it doesn't work for you and attempt to fix it.

Old kodi packages are in my kodi repo: https://github.com/AnonTester/kodi-repo/...s.subscene

Hi @AnonTester

I tried the latest version 1.9.8 it gives me a 403 error even though the download links are correct.  Here's the full debug log: https://paste.kodi.tv/yihalabazi.kodi

Any idea what's wrong and how I can fix this?  Thanks.

Subscene went behind an aggressive cloudflare 2.0.
All plugins will fail till the owner allows non-browser requests...

Sad to see this , but understandable...

Yeah, I'm getting the same :-(

Subscene has been behind cloudflare's protection for a while and this caused intermittent problems for some depending on country or IP. Sometimes it worked after trying multiple times or disabling VPN if one was used or just waiting hours/days.

If subscene/cloudflare ramped up the protections even further, there's nothing I can do until someone comes up with some sort of workaround.

I'll see if I can find something that might work.

Not sure if we can play around with the header parameters or user agents etc to simulate the request being sent by a browser.  Really appreciate your help on this @AnonTester
