When I look at player debug info while playing a video with inputstream adaptive the video player cache always shows "forward:0.00 B". If playing a video without inputstream it shows about 35Mb, which is as expected from my settings in advancedsettings.xml.

Why doesn't inputstream adaptive appear to fill the video player cache?

Sorry for late response.

inputstream.adaptive has its own buffer which is used to fill Kodi's 8 second internal buffer. Kodi has no idea what's happening over on IA side. So modifying cache settings in advancedsettings has no effect at all.

IA for Kodi 19 only buffers up to 2 segments worth of data however in Kodi 20 there is now a configurable buffer (along with adaptive bitrate switching - still under development).
