Please Wait - busy - unusable
#1
I've been running Kodi for a long time but started having this problem in the last few months.  I don't recall making any big changes.  When I go into a video playlist (recently watched series) or into settings->add-ons sometimes it says "Busy" and "Please wait" at the top.  I am unable to do anything.  I can't go back, change the menu selection, etc.  It doesn't happen all the time but usually lasts for minutes

It could be happening during a library update.  I'm not sure why that would cause this problem.  I am running 19.3 on a Fire TV (Android) using the Eminence skin.

I tried to get a log but the problem didn't happen, so it is not every time a library scan is done (which I have set to happen at start up).

I'll add a log if I can get it to happen.

Switch back to the Estuary skin, and restart Kodi after that. Just to rule out skin issues. As always, a debug log (wiki) should give us some insight.

Is the FireTV a wifi-only connected device? Perhaps neighbors have a new (and stronger) wifi box since some time ago which now interferes with your wifi throughput speeds?

I finally got a log off it.  It happened at 11:23am on 8/15/22.

I can try another skin, but it happens intermittently so it will take a while to know if it really isn't happening anymore.

Just watching the screen it might keep refreshing the picture of the series or episode over and over.

A few things...

- You did enable debugging at some point, but it's best to immediately restart Kodi after doing that, so the debugging covers everything from start to finish. Not somewhere from the middle.
- Apparently Python is having some memory issues when handing TMDB routines, but again I would advise you to activate the default Estuary skin (and restart Kodi..), and see if this memory problem continues in a new debug log file.
- Some of your SMB directories cannot be accessed. Some previously deleted directories perhaps? Try a 'Clean Video Library' and it should fix that.

It does happen in the Estuary skin.

I can try to get a log from startup. But this doesn't happen all the time and it is annoying having flashing text on the screen.  Is there a way to turn logging on without that?
