Hi,
I have a Denon 2700 receiver and have Kodi 19.4 which I have running on a raspberry pi attached to it.
My speaker setup is 4.0.2

I am trying to playback surround sound movies but when the sound is arriving at my receiver it says it is as PCM when I look at stream info. It then won't let me change any settings for mode.

I have audio output device set to ASLA
Number of channels set to 7
Output configuration set to fixed
Stereo upmix enabled
Resample quality as high

Sync playback to display is off


If I look at audio settings in kodi during playback it says
Undetermined - AAC 5.1 - 6 channels

And allow passthrough is enabled

Slightly lost.
Appreciate any help.

AAC 5.1 should be sent as Multichannel PCM 5.1 as it's a format that requires decoding before being sent to the receiver. So it should be Multichannel PCM your receiver should be reporting if it's getting the 5.1 channels.

I have been fighting this same problem for the past week as I just got an android TV box and wanted to try kodi.  I finally fixed my surround sound problems by running version 18.9 of kodi.  It appears to me that version 19 has many bugs related to surround sound.

That's is not so much as a fix as it is a workaround or circumvention.
Have you tried Kodi 20 ? I'm sure there are alpha LibreELEC versions available somewhere.
