Solved Cannot connect to smb shares after upgrading macOS server from El Capitan to Mojave
#1
Hi all,
I am using latest Kodi (Nexus) on an Android tv box. It was working perfectly until I upgraded my server from El Capitan to Mojave. Now i cannot connect to the server's smb shares anymore. I get error "Operation not permitted". Other apps ("Perfect Viewer" on Android or "FilebrowserGo" on IOS) connect just fine, so the server should be ok.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but the search function did not show anything related.

Thanks for your help,

Heinrich

Which SMB version(s) are your using?
Perhaps you need to adjust the min/max SMB version setting in Kodi.

I set min smb version to 1 and max to 3, which did not change anything. Meanwhile I realised that the other apps that I mentioned use username/password for accessing the server. After doing the same in Kodi, it worked.
With the old El Capitan server I could connect and browse w/o user/pass which was quite handy, because specifying the data using the remote and virtual KB is a PITA. But I only had to do it once and it's ok for me now.

Thanks for your help,

Heinrich

Likely it being SMBv1, which had a much easier setup. Anyway, good to hear it now works.
