Hi I am trying to use special protocol to point to my C:\Users\[username] or on Linux to /home/[username]

Is it possible?

Have you actually tried it?
From a security point-of-view, it is not the best choice of location.

You say 'special protocol' but mention 'source' in the thread title. So which is it gonna be?

How to try it? Do you have any example? There is no special protocol mentioning I can use username location.

I would like to use special protocol in sources.xml pointing to the OS home directory not kodi userdata folder.

im currently unaware if there is the path you want but heres the wiki showing all its paths https://kodi.wiki/view/Special_protocol
if its not on the wiki it probably doesnt exist

maybe you can put your files within kodi's userdata folder and use special://home/Movies or something like that

There is no special protocol for the OS 'home' folder, so you will have to create your own.
You can create a source from the OS home folder as a basis, and then create actual movie/tv/whatever sources from that main source. It's not that different from any other file/network location.

Yes, but then I would have hardcoded path in sources.xml, that I would like to avoid. Anyways tnx for reply.
