Problems updating library
#1
Hi guys,

I'm having issues updating the library on one of my Kodi installations and am hoping someone may be able to help.

I have Kodi 19 on a couple of firesticks and they work without any issues, I have just installed Kodi 20.1 on another firestick and on this version I am having the following issue:

I have 3 sources on my media server, 'HD Movies', 'tv_series' and 'tv_series2'

When I tell it to update library it scrapes hd movies and tv_series but will not scrape tv_series2 (this issue only happens on the new installation of version 20, the version 19s all update without issues)

The network locations and sources have been added correctly, each source can be opened and browsed.

If I go through settings - media - videos open the menu on tv_series2 and select 'scan for new content' it does scrape the source and add them to the library, the only time the issue occurs is when selecting update library to do a blanket update.

In the log file at the point it trys to scan tv_series2 it has the line

warning <general>: No information found for item 'ftp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@address:port/tv_series2/', it won't be added to the library.

I have tried changing the source content to none then back to TV shows, removing the source and the network path and re-entering them but this has not resolved the issue .

I hoping someone may be able to figure out the issue and be an easy fix before trying a reinstall of Kodi, I spent a long time setting up and don't really want to have to do it all again unless I absolutely have to. As far as I can see everything is set up correctly, there's no reason why it shouldn't be working.

Thanks in advance,

Regards

  • using ftp can be problematic in many situations and was invented over 50 years ago - suggest a more modern solution (smbv2 is at least less than 17 years old)
  • a single line from the log is not as informative as you might think - suggest a full Debug Log
  • kodi caches information so if it thinks it has already scanned the content to the library then it wont re-add it - suggest remove source and when prompted to remove from library say yes then re-add
  • if tv_series works but tv_series2 doesnt work as separate sources you may try a single source with both folders as their content - just delete tv_series2, modify tv_series using 'add' to add multiple paths
