i've noticed it too, with the 31/12 release. it's only slight but it's enough to be really annoying. i've tried xvid and mpeg2 and the av sync was off on both.

hehe

is there only 2 users who thinks that audio/video
dont syncHuh?

03-12-31 version.

strange if so...

i've been experiencing av sync problems with xbmc with three films i've just encoded -- i don't experience these problems with xbmp or with any pc-based players.

the encodings were made from pal dvds via gordian knot 0.28.6. specifically, the video was encoded with divx pro 5.1.1 and the ac3 audio stream was then muxed into an avi by whatever means gordian knot uses.

using the 2nd jan 2004 release of xbmc, i have to adjust the audio delay to approx -0.33 in order for the audio to sync with the video.

happy to provide as much detail as required to assist in resolving this problem.

does everybody who experiences a/v desync use the normal tv audio out? i use the toslink digital out of the advanced a/v pack connected to an external dolby digital receiver for all sound, and i never get desync on many different files (mostly xvids with mp3 audio, but ac3 audio and vcd/svcd files are perfect too).

i get the same problem through tv audio out, and through the optical digital out to a dd5.1 amp.

if i have the volume up on both the tv and the amp, both sets of audio are in-sync with each other, but are about one-third of a second ahead of the video.

i tried the 2004-01-02 build yesterday, and my audio was out of sync. i have my box connected to a dd5.1 amp with optical cable. however, with the new great osd i changed the av delay to about -0.25, and that did the trick.

anyway, great progress have been made this last moth! thanks!

sorry! i meant i tried the 03-12-31 build, and that build had av sync problems. i will try the 04-01-02 build later today :-)

for the benefit of the devs, a clip that exhibits the problem is available here.

it's a 20-second clip (2.6mb) that works perfectly on windows media player, divx player, tcmp and xbmp. play it on xbmc, however, and you get the av sync problem.

as previously mentioned, this occurs through normal tv-out and digital-out. i've also tested it by streaming from a ccxstream server, and by playing direct from the xbox hdd.

edit: i should also have mentioned that it's a uk pal xbox and the video clip is from a pal dvd.

it plays in perfecty sync for me.

in the last week of december frodo and i did some extensive sync testing.
i had some movies that desynced and played fine for frodo.
when i got a new mplayer.dll all was fixed. before that i did some deleting of old stuff.

anyway, all sync issues on xvids or ac3 audio stuff is fixed for me.

i'm on 720x576 pal widescreen
i do not use pal 60
do not use post processing
use auto select best resolution
use the new framerate converter

could you be more specific about the version of mplayer.dll? also which 'old stuff' did you delete?

thanks,

got the same out of sync issue here... it's off just slightly but annoying.
using pal60 widescreen, ac3 passthrough and subtitles,
postprocessing disabled.

deactivate pal 60 and see if it is fixed.

looks like it is indeed not occuring when disabling pal60..

framerate adjust is not supported under pal60, could that be the reason. are all you guys using framerate adjust with pal60?
