I am just wondering if it is possible to have poster Art that has a transparent background?
Currently it is set at 'no'.

Yea, you probably could. A .png image with transparency might work. No harm in testing it.
What sort of poster do you have that is transparent?

Changing a solid texture to a transparent one is also something that can be done within the skin.

Actually I tried and it worked, but then after the first look it defaulted to the generic "no poster" icon.

I was actually trying to have no poster visible (ie a fully transparent blank one).
it's not a major issue, and I do appreciate the help

I'm using the new Transparency skin. How would changing the texture affect just one specific poster artwork?

Ah I thought you wanted all posters to be like that, which can be done from the skin. If you want only the one or some then that can't be done in the skin.

On second thought, where would I make that change?
Am I correct in thinking that if the change was made then non transparent posters would still work?

When doing from skin it's an all or nothing scenario. As for guidance on what would be necessary, there's several means a skin can do it and I have no idea what Transparency. I'm away until early July so no possibility for me to check until I return.
