Release TrueHD passthrough - New MAT Packer implementation (merged in master and Omega)
Pegasus :-). Yeah, did not know it either.

Omega nightlies
Pegasus nightlies

have all this work.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

That was the real question Smile
Thanks Zuikkis!
So I'll continue with the Pegasus nightlies...

That is not however the name that will be used for v22

Hey! I have the Nvidia Shield Pro 2019.

I can't install kodi-20240605-62eb3822-mat-packer-Omega-arm64-v8a.apk
It just says "app not installed"

I tried to install the latest "kodi-20240702-fbeb00df-master-arm64-v8a.apk"
And it worked fine. Not sure what the problem is.

@fritsch are you saying that maxpassthroughoffsyncduration is now capped at 80 going forward? Anything higher isn't compatible with the MAT Rework?

I unfortunately need more than 80 on Nvidia Shield. I forced myself to install an older version that does not have this limitation.

But it shows me 80 not 96
I have nvidia shield 2019 and sometimes I need more than 80.
In the final version of Kodi 21.1, will we be able to use a fix in the advanced settings?

The suggested value is 50 in this version. If you needed 96 before, it doesn't mean you will need it anymore. Try 50. I used 96 before and now 50 is fine.

For me this has been perfect so far, works absolutely flawlessly. And I'm very picky to notice even smallest frame skips.

I have tried with 50 as well as with 80, in some files I have stuttering. Only with 96 or 100 it works without a problem. What is the problem with remaining the option, as before, who wants to do it over 80?

Yeah I seem to have this problem now in 4K blu-rays with TrueHD, there's usually 1 or 2 video stutters throughout the movie. It's not too common but it's definitely there. This seems to be happening because the new limit is 80 which is likely a bit too low for my specific Shield. Is there really no way to raise the limit back to 100 without breaking the MAT Rework, @jogal?

The MAT Rework is incredible in terms of audio, I haven't heard a single dropout so far. I just wish it was still possible to use maxpassthroughoffsyncduration 96 because that also ensured no video stutters on my Shield.

EDIT: I currently have 2 options:
[Old Build] Perfect video (advancedsetting 96), but audio dropouts with Disney TrueHD
[New Build] Perfect audio, but some files have 1 or 2 video stutters (advancedsetting 80)

Could @fritsch or @jogal make me a build of the latest nightly that allows maxpassthroughoffsyncduration 96 so I can test to see if it works?

I'm not going to work on this any further for one simple reason: this is a problem that I cannot reproduce locally. Although I would like to dedicate 500 hours and sleepless nights to it, I cannot solve a problem that does not exist for me.

It is already explained in previous posts and on GitHub (several times):

https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3198151

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/f311...f0be4e9e8e

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/25238

In others words: max allowed stationary / not corrected error e.g. 80 ms + transitory error (error noise / peaks e.g. 15 to 20 ms) MUST not be at any time > 100 ms

Wow AMAZING work @jogal, this truly IS a game changer! 100% perfect audio and video with maxpassthroughoffsyncduration 50!
Here's a debug log with maxpassthroughoffsyncduration set to 50 as requested: https://paste.kodi.tv/itimoxajay.kodi

I expected to see video stutters on my Shield with only maxpassthroughoffsyncduration 50, but it seems like your MAT Rework somehow also fixed the video stutter problem that I had!
Now Kodi plays everything completely perfectly for me, awesome work!

I also tried maxpassthroughoffsyncduration 96 and it was perfect as well, so I think I will personally keep it at 96 just to be extra safe. But maxpassthroughoffsyncduration 50 with this MAT Rework seems perfect so far!

I'm betting by now that these issues some are still having with the maxpassthroughoffsyncduration, are more related to their own AVR's and how they're responding to Kodi when audio is being received and decoded. Perhaps just switching to a different AVR or Soundbar manufacture could easily solve or worsen the problem, who knows. I'm sure @jogal has done a very nice work by now to try and mitigate the issues as much as possible. I personally have always relied to use Kodi without any manual "maxpassthroughoffsyncduration" and let the feature he implemented and worked on being the automatic maxpassthroughoffsyncduration selector do it's thing, which always work at least 97% of the time.

Personally just in very rare cases I've gotten one audio dropout accompanied with a slight stutter, however this is due more to my Soundbar and Shield TV which sometimes needs a simple reboot because it gets glitchy after many days of going from sleep mode to active back and forth. And I've personally seemed the shield and my soundbar work more reliable everytime I do a quick reboot and audio drop outs neither stutters happen again, until many days later of doing the same routine on the shield of going from sleep mode to active, etc.

Edited: I am personally using the current stable Kodi 21.0 which my feedback is based on. I'm pretty sure with the next Kodi 21.1 release will be even better after all the further improvements that has been done with the new MAT Packer, as I've been silently following this thread ever since it was created and just now decided to say something about it.

From the beginning it was clear, that some people have sever and specific and special issues on their devices. What you most likely need is a "I don't care about SYNC" setting ... but let's not confuse this with proper analysis of variances in TrueHD by misusing a setting to stop kodi from correcting real errors ...
