Hi, I have sometimes problem with the subtitle file wont run in sync with the movie. That happens when i watch a movie or TV-serie that not have subtitle from the start or wrong language.
So sometimes when I download the subtitle I want it is not in sync. And it is not possible to adjust with the subtitle offset adjustment as well in Kodi because it look like the speed is changing all the time.
Maybe I find the correct offset in the beginning of the movies and the 5 minutes later it is out of sync again.
Is it something I can change in the settings? Is it depending on how many frames per second?
The TV serie Red Eye I am watching currently has this FPS if that matters: 1920x1080 H.264 25FPS @ ~4342 kb/s ?
I have the latest Kodi and also the latest Windows 11.

Ran into this yesterday, but Kodi tool 'subtitle offset adjustment' was good enough although it took while to get it right... ended up with -23% was the magic number. I find that you have to tease out the number after some viewing. I wasn't aware of the SubtitleEdit program, but looking at the specs; Note: SE requires Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.8, I'm not a fan of bloatware.

Sometimes I can get it right but only if the movie is playing in a constant speed. But it feels like sometimes it doesent. Or the subtitle file is not running in constant speed.
I have tried the software now and I did not get it to work. In the beginning the sync was fine. For maybe 4-5 minutes. But then it started to unsync again.

Yes, most of the time it is possible to find a subtitle that works better. It has become much better about that. For a couple of years ago almost all subtitles not coming with the movie or
TV serie were not in sync. Nowadays it is more rare.
I am not that good about computer or software stuff and absolutely not into coding but I admire them who are.
I have tried now some with the software provided but I did not manage to get it right. It ended up with me watching the TV serie with Norwegian subtitle which was the only
one provided with the serie.
It was OK since Swedish-Danish-Norwegian is similar. I would prefer Swedish or English but there was not that.
I will look closer into the software later maybe I understand how to do. This time I just change the Frame Per second and that did not do the trick.
Thanks for try helping me out, both of you :-).

Thank you very much, brazen, for the detailed instruction.
I will try this out next time I stumble upon a subtitle not in sync. I did only do the framerate and the speed and I am pretty sure I did wrong about the Synchronization/speed adjustment. I did not do the Synchronization/Adjust all times/to show earlier or show later/All lines part in the speed adjustment setting..

Thanks Scott, I was not aware of Aegisub. I understand that is a subtitle editing software as well. But it look like from what you wrote that SubtitleEdit is more easy to handle for a rookie so I will
concentrate on that. If not having luck with that I will try Aegisub.
