v21 Copacetic for Kodi Omega (v21) - From the official repo
#61
Heart
Hello @realcopacetic, I signed up especially to comment on your fabulous Kodi skin! Thank you for all your amazing work. I have tried many skins but this is one of only three that could take me away from the default Estuary! Smile

I do have a few queries/quirks that I would like to ask about. I have looked around and surprisingly not seen anything recent about any of these. Of course, feel free to dismiss any of these, as I understand every developer has a vision for their creation.

1) Weather - I have tried the Common menu item but all I get is a blank screen. I don’t see any way to add it as a widget either. The Weather has been a mainstay in my always-left-on Kodi media centre and checked daily, so it is missed now that it is not there.

2) Time - Any chance of adding options for more information such as day/date, AM/PM (for 12hr), and Weather near the clock? I love the minimalist design, but again these are missed when I’m used to seeing them daily. If they are options they will not be obtrusive. Also an option to have the clock persistent across all screens rather than disappearing after launching an add-on would be nice if not too difficult to implement.

3) Favourites - Ability to change view as is possible in other sections. A view that allows info (description) to be shown would be nice.

4) Video Add-ons Widget - I use many of these add-ons and would like a way to quickly select them. Their icons seem to change (and are cropped) when I select Grid/Square. Also, a single click does nothing and a long press is needed to go into their Information menu where they can then be launched. Is it possible to use their default app icon and open them with a single click, similar to the default Kodi experience?

Please let me know if I’m doing it wrong and if there are easier ways of doing anything I explained (I’m new to this) Big Grin I am still tweaking as I started from a clean install after many years using a dirty setup full of expired add-ons Lol 😜

Love ❤️

4) Was resolved by adding Video Add-Ons to the Menu instead of using a widget. It looks and works much better that way. Smile

Thanks for the great feedback @reckon and the suggestions.

1) weather I have to admit I've never even thought about this as it's not personally something I use at all. I'll have to look into how big it is to add this in.

2)maybe as a compromise I could add weather to the clock and give options to have date and make it persistent. It'll depend on if I can make a design that matches but I'll add it to the backlog.

3) I was needing to do this at some point since the launch of Omega. I'll get around to it but in the meantime you can make a widget of your favourites and choose the view you want and access it that way. It's one of the built-in widgets you can choose. To change the artwork (e.g. if you want square or poster or fanart) you do that in favourites (context menu on each item - choose art) then that will show up in the widget.

4) the first part is a mistake. It's showing fanart instead of thumbnail, I'll fix that soon. Second part can you clarify? I just tried adding video addons in a widget and clicking on them took me to the plugin directory which is what I would expect. Does this not happen for you or do you have a different expectation? How did you add them? I chose Custom path and then navigated to Videos > Add-ons

Thanks for the response @realcopacetic,

2) If it’s too cluttered having so much info showing it could rotate on a 10 second timer instead (not sure how flexible programming these things are) Smile

3) I did consider this, but I mainly use my Favourites for YouTube and/or individual bookmarks within other video apps to have them all in one place. I have become quite fond of the list view in this short time I must admit.

4) Correct, the Video Add-Ons widget does take me to the plug-ins directory as expected, but if I click on any of the add-ons in that directory I hear the sound but nothing happens unless I long click. Do you have the option set to go to information first? That could be it (I will test later when I’m home). I vaguely remember it doing the same with video library widgets before I blew my system away and started again, although that might have been a different issue as a lot wasn’t working before I applied the skin that time Big Grin

I really am loving this skin and will continue to test. Thank you so much!

Oh on 4, It may be that you're going to the video add-ons section a different way to me. This is how I set it up. For the custom path, go to Video Library > and choose 'Video add-ons', it should show the path like so:

Then in the widget you see your addons like so:

And clicking on one should open it normally. So clicking on TMDB Helper takes me here:

with an expert like you i think it an easy fix
this movie may be good with other people, but with me, i prefer spirit away or howl moving castle more than this. dont know why this anime can win oscar, i thinks howl moving castle should win oscar for best animation movie instead of this anime
