Release Netflix Add-on [input-stream]
(2024-08-27, 06:28)8traxrule Wrote: When it's working, it does 4K, HDR and Atmos. But apparently it's broken, the developer has said he has given up on working on it and someone else will have to take it over.

Weirdly enough, the addon has been working again with 4K and Atmos for the last two days on my Shield Pro 2019. Not sure how long it will last though.

Also, my Shield has been playing 4K through the official app for more than a week now, while previously it was "banned" by Netflix and only played 540p.

Still banned on my Shield (ESN unknown).

I have tested this addon again on my TV with Google TV and Kodi 21.1 and it is currently working correctly again in 1080p. A few weeks ago I had the problem that the playback stopped after 2 minutes.

Is this your first time using the Netflix addon in 21.1? When this first started happening I had Matrix installed. At that time I noticed that it still worked in a separate install I had on my same Shield with Maven's Build of Omega. Then after a day or two it stopped working there too. I would be curious if it continues working for more than a day or two on your 21.1. I checked mine earlier this week and it would still only work at 540p, but I had probably already connected to Netflix at 540p for several days with 21.1 and it could have already been blacklisted for me again. If I get a chance over the weekend I may test this theory by installing some updates with Maven's Build to see if I temporarily get HD on Netflix with each update.

In Kodi 21.1 it is the first time I have tried it. In 21.0 I had tried it a few weeks ago and it didn't work.

I have tried it again since I have read some comments in this forum from users for whom it worked again.

At the moment 24 hours later it is still working. If it fails in the next few days I will comment on it here.

After 2 days working correctly, the same thing happens to me. Now I can only play more than 2 minutes with SD 576p resolution Sad

Same with me with Maven's Build of Kodi. I still have 21.0 alpha and I haven't touched Netflix on it for months. It played 4k Saturday morning and by Sunday evening it was doing the 2 minute video freeze. I was hoping to update to the latest Maven's nightly build but the shield is not allowing the update to install. I'll probably need to remove it and reinstall. The nice thing about Maven's Build is that it can be installed alongside the official Kodi build.

I'd imagine someone has already tried this, but I'm curious if the Netflix issue is reset with each nightly release, or each major release or if it was just coincidence that it started working for you for a couple days with 21.1.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. The official Netflix app on my Shield worked for about 2 weeks, but is now back to 540p. The addon is also back to not playing 4K anymore after about 2 days.

After clearing some space on my shield I was able to upgrade to Maven's Build 21.1 nightly and it was still 540p, so my upgrade theory was wrong. I don't know if it's a coincidence or related to my testing, but I am now experiencing the same MSL error reported on GitHub here:
https://github.com/CastagnaIT/plugin.vid...ssues/1721

This is both on official Kodi release and Maven's Build.

Netflix is blocking HD/UHD playback somehow. I had the same a few months ago when I tried using this addon both it and the Netflix app would only play 540p. Uninstalled the addon and after a few months the app would play HD/UHD again.

At least HD is working as intended here for movies and series. Just installed a new HTPC and after the addon setup everyting worked from the get go. Can't test anyting higher than HD since my sub is not giving me more then 1080 pixels.

So Is this Addon working again without the 2 minute Issue ? Hmm. Maybe its time to ununstall & do a fresh install & test on my Windows / chromecast & Shield
