Beta Madnox (Omega) (WIP - Active Dev)
Nothing - I hit the switch so the knob is on the left side to turn it off and all it did was remove the remaining side items I had like changing view and stuff - weird - I turned it back on and the view options came back. I checked earlier to make sure I have the right version and there's only one version under your repository. So I have everything right. Idk what is going on. Your skin and arctic zephyr reloaded are the only skins I prefer tbh but I like yours better. Just can't get the watched indicator to show. I have it on in the settings under furniture. I checked every tab to make sure nothing is missing to turn on. I'm sure I have to send a log next but idk what a log will do in this situation. I do have alot of addons 93 exact in video but they wouldn't cause this to happen and I'm sure most are blacklisted on this forum. Just it's a skin problem. I don't know how addon's would cause this to happen. Plus it's not happening on the other skin arctic zephyr reloaded. Only reason I switched skins is because I was having random addon's popping up with their changelogs and settings ever since I switched over to omega so I thought hey why not change skins and since I switched to yours the pop ups stopped. Maybe arctic zephyr reloaded isn't 100% compatible with omega who knows. Not dissing it but I hate the pop ups from addons and they don't even have that service script on them. It's like the addon's on the omega side have a mind of their own. Only problem I have now with the skin I had with the other one arctic is when I play a movie or something after 4-5 films the 5th or 6th one will freeze for 4-5 minutes then start playing again. I wanted to change back to matrix but I am already on omega so I'll suck it up with what I'm dealing with already. I never had any issues on matrix tbh. It's just Omega. The other skins I tried I had issues with their wallpaper methods and widgets. Yours and arctic as I said were the only ones I approved of. The other thing not really a issue is I wish the widgets on your skin could be moved up to make room for widget 2 and 3 lol but that's not so much an issue. I can deal with everything but the watched status. Not complaining just trying to help out.

and please don't get offended by what I said - I've had some devs in the past go off on me by how I criticize.

Let me try to recreate your workflow, so on your end. Start assuming you just installed Kodi and installed skin with the options like watched assumed to be enabled.

With that, tell me exactly using either the bullets or the numbering indents in the reply to outline the exact steps you take from where your media is i.e c:\, d:\ and how you "add" the media, to how you access it via the menus. Assume you are telling me how to tie my shoes, once you do that, I'll replicate it here and see if I can either find the issue or figure out how to solve the problem.

I am knee deep in getting an Omega issue with resolved with the main devs with slow library loads and that is burning a lot of mental energy, but I will have a look to see if I can sort it out.

Thx.

You have to wake up pretty early in the morning to fu*k with me, I don't get offended, shit is what it is.... I'll do my best to make the best choices for the skin for all (as I use it daily and as the dev takeover, I'm learning alot and growing myself...so), if it is something I can't/won't do, I'll just come right out and say it, I don't pull any punches.

Say what you mean, mean what you say... words I live and operate by... so any feedback, critiques, and comments are always welcome no matter if they are popular or not.

LMK on the order of operations and I'll get to it when I get some time.

Best,
Chris

I’ve been using the skin for sometime now and only thing I have to overcome until there’s a fix on omega (newest version) is the watched indicator not showing when I have it enabled in settings and it only shows the setting portion for library stuff but even though it’s enabled it doesn’t show for me other than that and moving widgets up to make room for widgets 2 & 3 or maybe 4 if the widgets were tinier that’s my only report. I have the widgets 1 & 2 on a few set to medium some small and even on those settings the widget 2 & 3 only show by clicking over the widget meaning touching it then moving up or down. I’d rather see it in one view the widgets I have chosen. That’s all my concerns and if you need a log I’d be glad to send you it in private but I need specifications of how you want me to do the log and what to load because I always remove my logs before and after each load up just to be able to find when stuff messes up where to pinpoint the errors. Having a 25mb log doesn’t really help me out ya know. Well that’s all. Ttyl! Hopefully my words didn’t get messed up writing this as I’m on my iPhone. If it doesn’t make sense let me know.

Mike,

As of today, CrystalP finally was able to sort out the Omega issue that has been sucking all my motivation dry. So now I'm back at it. One thing I am having a question on and I can't figure out what I'm missing. In the control panel, where you would have things like artwork dump... etc... the 3 status effects, installed (green check), not installed (Red X), disabled (orange), I suddenly noticed that they are "off screen". I don't recall making any changes that would move those. The colors thing we did with the color boxes from months ago all works correctly. I've tried looking at skinsettings.xml and include_settings.xml and tried to adjust the "width" of the right panel majorly just to see if I can affect it, but nothing seems to either it off screen or left to bring it back into view. Kind of a head scratcher.

Any ideas where I should be looking? It seems to be controlled outside those two immediate files, but unclear thus far what is controlling it and the debugs tell show that kind of info...

From what I can tell, it looks like some kind of Kodi rendering issue with the characters (emoji?) used. Changing to use different ones, like a capitalized X and the checkmark alt code, seems to fix it.

I just merged your edits into Omega, and it renders correctly, but my god, what is going on with Omega, why would this be doing this?

How do I even report it, I assume you used char map and pasted it into the editor and it managed to render correctly?

I much prefer the old icons to the subbed in for testing, but at least it isn't anything on my part.

I checked my skin in Nexus and Omega and both are the same version as on the Repo and both are "new" portable installs, so there is no difference or any type of mods, so clearly fails into another Omega issue.

What would you suggest?

I think the font file has been modified to add the checkmark and multiplication dingbat characters. I do not see them when downloaded from Google Fonts.
They also appear misaligned and incorrectly sized compared to the rest of the font.

Not sure if this is an issue in Kodi. It seems to be the font itself and playing with the sizes and positioning gets close but the differences are quite large so will need some love to get it all within the same grid sizing.

The X is barely visible even though I adjusted it much smaller.

Perhaps Kodi used to handle the rendering differently and centered everything regardless of size but I have no idea.

You could try creating an issue to see what, if anything, could be done.

It is a font file thing, but which one are you referring to? Fonts within my skin? Because Nexus uses the same installer and the font files are the same.

I did modify one of fonts to allow fractions that were not present, but didn't affect the ones in question.

There are a bunch of font files, lmk which one you're looking at. TY.

The add-ons section of skin settings is a bunch of buttons. The buttons have an include that provides the tags used by the button and that include does not provide a font so it would fallback to either the Defaults.xml or font13 if there is no default.

The default font for buttons in the Defaults.xml file is
xml:
<font>Font30_Reg</font>
and that font is defined in the fonts.xml file as
xml:
<font>
<name>Font30_Reg</name>
<filename>OpenSans-Regular.ttf</filename>
<size>30</size>
</font>
So the font file in question is OpenSans-Regular.ttf and the checkmark and multiplication (X) characters (glyphs) are both different from the rest of the font.

It is not related to your modifications since I am not using that file, it must have been this way since the file was added to the skin.

Sounds like I'll need to add a default of my own to prevent this from happening then?

I was trying to use other icon glyphs from another font file also in the same font folder, but I keep coming up with a rendered "square" meaning it can't find it...

God this is annoying, it's like herding cats.

I plan to do more when I get home, I really am trying to get the TMDB upgrade going/finished but all these odds and ends are potholes in the way.

TY for looking at it though, I couldn't imagine trying to wrestle all of this at once.

Not sure I am explaining well enough...

You asked me what font file so I was describing how to get that info. The font file mentioned is the default one used for the entire skin so adding your own doesn't make sense in this context.

Maybe the following pic will help explain more:

Image

The top right is a default character from the font and the bottom left is the two which are having display issues. I think it is easily noticed that they are missized and out of bounds in relation to the rest of the font.

EDIT: Better pic with multiple characters

Didn't really notice, but in the font creator program rendered it centered, but the background seems to be out of kilter with the other glyphs.

The file I am looking at is from Mr. V's original package, so this has been there since then.

I am wondering if the major video upgrade that Omega did via beta 1/2 fixed what was broken to seem ok and now it renders it correctly showing the font file has an issue. I will see if I can correct it.

It seems my supposition has some merit. I expanded the canvas for the glyph to encompass the vector shapes for both objects, regenerated the font file after a preview. In FontForge, it now looks "correct" and the background shading in FontCreator looks correct now.

I will update my repo files and the fixed version of the font file will go out with it.

For now, here is a direct link to the modified font if you wish to try it there and verify my findings. I don't know when I will do a repo push as I have other things I'm working on.
