Thanks for the answer. So the "pseudo-Arial" font Estuary uses would be sufficient for your display of chinese characters?

I'm asking because it's a very small font with very few characters. Almost surprised that i covers everything you needed. But good to know.

Thank you so much for all the work you do on this skin, and for keeping the legacy views in!  I recently upgraded to Omega and I have your skin set up exactly how I like.  But there seems to be a new behavior in Omega that isn't dependent on the skin.  In previous versions of Kodi, if you watched no episodes of a show, no icon in the TV shows list.  If you watched some, no icon.  If you watched every show, check mark.  Now with Omega, if you watched some shows, OverlayWatching.png is shown in the tv show list.

I want to see OverlayWatching in the episode lists, but not the TV show lists, like how older Kodi was.  I use the Media Info view on both.  I made some edits to the Media Info section of ViewsVideoLibrary.xml and swapped out OverlayWatching.png with one of the png's that's only 1 pixel.  But it obviously kills the icon in both tv shows and episodes.

My thoughts were to copy the whole Media Info section to a new view number (600 or whatever), one would have OverlayWatching.png, the other would have the 1 pixel png.  Then I can set TV shows to one and episodes to the other.  Besides ViewsVideoLibrary.xml and MyVideoNav.xml, is there anything else I would need to change?

Edit: That totally worked!  I now have two views named "Media Info" because I'm not sure where that label is set, but no biggie.  I also edited ViewsFileMode.xml to remove OverlayWatching because I use that for seasons.  Mission accomplished!

Just another thing to quickly clarify:
Do you know about Kodis Interface Zoom feature?

System/Settings > Interface > Skin > Zoom > Set so -20% or -22% (should work about right for you, if my tests are correct)

Important: After changing the Zoom, always do a ReloadSkin() - if you don't do that, the font sizes don't correctly adapt.


It's a great feature for edge cases i think. Let me know if you knew already about this feature so we are on the same page.


That being said, i'll still evaluate making native improvements for scope-like resolutions.
Maybe even combining Kodi Skin Zoom with native improvements would be worth some thoughts. I think i went that route when i first did some tests years ago.

Thanks, but I dont believe this skin is designed for what I was looking for as far as customizations go. But thats OK. Your skin seems to be geared towards only Kodi library and not much customization. Guessing your not familiar with the modded Confluence skin called Xonfluence. I see your submenu addition. However manually entering in a path is the only option. If your not familiar with Xonfluence, that skin used an addon called Favorites script. This allowed you to simply add anything from anywhere in Kodi to Kodi favorites, such as sections in addons, and anything else that could be added to Kodi favorites basically.  Then when you choose a submenu, main menu, widget, or addon shortcut item in skin settings,  it allowed you to choose any of your Kodi favorites to set as the shortcut, whether it was a main menu item, subnmenu item, or widget. This made it very easy to set custom main menus/submenus or widgets in the skin. This skin is pretty much geared toward Kodi library only and not addons. But thank you, keep up the good work!

New Kodi user started with Confluence and recently Installed your Awesome Skin 'zeitgeist'
Two questions:
1. When I select view from say Fanart to List in TV Shows - the Default is Fanart - the next time I click on TV Shows the interface reverts back to 'Fanarrt'
2. And on Movies the default is 2X view and say I set to 3 it reverts back to 2?
Not if it is setting or what is going on - this is the most important aspect of - zeitgeist - I can see say 5 rows of the movie at the same time.

Also I eagerly await when you will formally launch the 'Cinemascope' because on a cinemsacope the OSD when watching movies is unusable as the OSD goes below the screen. (this is when I turn on all the Full Screen Options or turn them off).

I hope you can resolve the above two issues for me.

Regarding your "views" question:

Did you take a look at "System > Settings > My Skin > Advanced > View IDs for "Always force Preset Views" yet?

In there, you can configure which exact view you want for almost every type of situation. The configured views are always automatically set which might be what you experiencing. :-)
Have a closer look and let me know how it worked out.

Regarding the cinemascope skin variant:

Development on this was quite far in between. Since i haven't heard from @KillroyWasHere yet i did pause developement on the feature for the moment, but it could be resumed if you're interested.


In general:

Skin development will most likely resume more and more now that summer is over and "winter is coming".

Forgot something, here some additional info as a follow-up to my last reply to you:

If you don't know the View IDs for "List" and "List Wide", they are: List=50 and List Wide=51.
These IDs could be used to configure the views like described in my previous post.

First, thank you for the amazing skin. Using it on my Android cellphone. Quick and efficient.
One problem.
Trailers search:
I configured the trailer search to open with default Web Browser, and disabled the "Trailer" botton, the "Trailer Search" botton appears.
Problem: the default browser chrome (only browser installed) won't open. After one second the "Browse" button gets highlighted again.
Any idea?

Thanks for the feedback & report.
I don't use Android on a regular basis and as far as i remember, if i did testing the Trailer search button, i most likely did not use a cellphone but a FireTV or similar device.

Questiions:

- What exact Android & Kodi version do you use? Model type/name also would be of interest.
- Do you have another android device to also check with?

Maybe we'll find a way to sort it out. :-)

Your skin is perfect on Android, fast and touchscreen works excelent. Only some functions won't work like fading submenus, but it's not a big deal. Same for the Trailer function. Rarly use it. It's just there and I tried it. Perhaps the possibility to disable this function would be an alternative.

I am on a Samsung A54, Android 14, all patches installed.
Kodi lastest OMEGA, Android APK version 21.4

I have also a Samsung S 24, but not available at the moment.

Thanks for the info - i'll see if i can test & find out if it's a platform limiation or if we can fix the Trailer Search button for your case.

Also good to know things work well for your more rare smartphone & touchscreen use case.

Regarding touch screen use & fading sub-menus:
You surely did see that you can disable the auto-fade-out of the sub menus and make them fully visible? Does not look as clean as with auto-fade-out, but it's an option. :-)

I think you can skip additional testing with a Samsung S 24 for now - i hoped for a different device beside a smartphone. But it's all good - i'll find a device to do some testing.

Quick questions on the side:

- Does the Kodi-YouTube-app still work at the moment on Android Kodi 21?
(i did not check since i barely use newer Kodi systems besides skin testing)

- If yes: Using the Kodi YouTube app for the trailer search button does work as intended - correct?

- Is there a reason you would change the search type from Kodi YT app to browser? Maybe a) because the Kodi YT app does not work or b) because you don't have the required API keys the Kodi YT app?

Just collecting some additional info on the topic in general.

The YouTube addon never worked correctly for me, neither the Tubed addon.
Maybe I have done something wrong with the API, but I don't think so. Also to be honest I don't have a PC in the moment at hand (traveling) to remote control Android Kodi. Needed to insert the Keys. Android Kodi doesn't permites copy and paste, also often entries won't get saved. Seems to be a bit buggy Android Kodi :⁠-⁠)

Don't bother it's not of great importance. Everything else just works marvelous for me and fulfils my needs.
