Are there any downsides that would warrant the wait for PRs to be merged with nightlies instead?

you could read from here, lots of hints on how to do it

no ones said anything negative

The same way you did first intallation, on a computer. Connect your CE device to a PC, and open it. You will see only the flash partition. There rename present dtb.img to dtb.img.old. Then copy new dtb image which you renamed to dtb.img to same place as the old one. You are all set...

All g12b DTBs will include the changes with next nightly in Amlogic-ng and Amlogic-no available here: https://relkai.coreelec.org

Thanks. Just as I figured it out, OP removed the files because of the upcoming nightly merge. I guess I'll wait.

Is nightly merge this night? never used nightlies before
I still can't believe I've got a NEW N3
Dolby vision
25% speed bump. Don't forget we had similar bump from N2 to N2+ but it wasn't snappier
this speed bump is in reverse. it's not an actual increase in CPU performance but more code optimisations that actually make a huge difference in navigating.

How legendary is the S922x!
I have a feeling with this revelation that Team CoreELEC might support it a bit longer.
From tonight, each AMB6+ is now an AMB7 (fight me)

@MediaPi, is there a HS400 CE setting w/N2+ like w/AM6B+? I assume both N2 & N2+ can support DV? Strangely, I can't find instructions nor discussion on how you get DV working on N2/N2+. Same copy dovi.ko to root approach? I assume HDR/10+/HLG also work?

N2+ is my fathers, I fix when it breaks, other than that I don't interact with the N2+. Also we don't own a DV set. we have HDR ready I think. I'm planning to update the build next week some time and interested in the HS400 CE setting with the performance improvements. I'll report back. I still can't find where I found out about the DV on N2.

@noggin can you chime in? you use to own an N2 and are very good at this stuff

TYSM I've had like 3 people ask me if it's true N2+ has Dolby Vision and I couldn't point them to a source.

A person from that thread reported

Crazy to see Dolby vision message from my tv on odroid n2+ . I tested as many videos I could find and they all seem to work fine.
Thank you for making this possible.
Is it a know limitation or bug that screen goes briefly black whenever i bring out seek bar or pause video ?"

I'm kind of speechless. Their is zero reason for me to upgrade for another 4 years or so. what does the Ugoos AMB6+ do that the N2+ doesn't?
Best hardware I ever bought and the damn thing still cost as much as I bought it 5 years ago!

No, Odroid N2/N2+ are SBC and use detachable eMMC modules; this is the reason that you can never brick an N2. The speed depends on the used module.

does that DTB file have the 25% boost ? I've downloaded a copy. I've learnt to store the copy because it's a grey area and CoreELEC could decide to ban any mention of it at any time. I advise other n2+ owners to do the same lol

Nightly is out:

Changelong doesn't specify the .dtb changes. Is this what we were waiting for?

we getting somewhere with S905X4 (found in (Homatics Box R Plus)

This version contains the new .dtb.

Wish I still had an Odroid N2+ to test. With all the cool innovation & development with CE lately, wondering if it would this 4-5 year old device would now tie Ugoos AM6B+ or come a close second.
