v21 Some Moviesets do not show their Fanart background in Estuary UI
#1
Hi all,

Kodi 21.1, Default Estuary Skin. Last night I noticed, that from my 20 or so Moviesets (all of them have a Fanart-Wallpaper set, which I manage with TinyMediaManager), roughly 1/3 do not display the Fanart as a background in Kodi.

Example from the Screenshots: Fanart-Background for Indiana Jones Movie-Collection set and displayed OK, Fanart-Background for Beverly Hills Cop-Collection set and not displayed in Kodi. Most have the Fanart was set as part of the Movies already months ago, so I would rule out any kind of Caching probably.

Does anybody know what the reason could be for that?

Somehow this issue affects only Moviesets, all other Fanart-Backgrounds for "single" movies in the normal Movie-View do show up properly...

If you check Choose Art, is the artwork available?

Thank you Karellen, I checked and ... to my surprise: it is not available when I go via "choose artwork":

However, the image itself is present in the Collection folder:

The Movieset nfo for Beverly Hill Collection looks like this:

Code:

Do you have any idea why it won't show up? Again, it's rougly 1/3 out of all my 20 or so Moviesets ... could this be a bug?

Kodi doesn't use a movie set nfo file. (yet)

I doubt it as I haven't noticed any problems, nor have there been any other reports.

I have no idea at this stage. I assume the artwork was there before scanning the collection into the library.
What happens if you delete all the movies in the collection from the library, then rescan them back into the library? Is the artwork picked up?

@Sidewinder_2011: yes, I know the Wiki page and I know that information. I have set everything up correctly and most of the background Fanart is showing properly for Moviesets, as shown in my initial post for e.g. Indiana Jones Collection. But it does not show for some Moviesets - I am pretty sure it is unrelated to the general Movieset-Configuration.

@Karellen: last night, I did a "Clean up Library" followed by a Rescan of my entire Library - I was hoping that after that, the Fanart for these sets would be picked up ... unfortunately, it did not and nothing has changed. The same sets that did not show the Fanart background also did not show it after the Library refresh. The "Choose Art" window still does not show the Fanart image, even though the image is of course in the movieset folder.

Very weird... anything else you would suggest testing/debugging?

As you've already scanned them to the library you probably need to follow these instructions:

If a movie set sub-folder is added after a collection is already created in the Kodi library:
  • Scanning/scraping another movie from the collection will load the artwork from the movie set sub-folder
  • Alternatively you can load the artwork manually using the Choose Art method:
  • Navigate to the collection in the Kodi library
  • From the Context menu select Manage > Choose art
  • Select artwork for the required artwork types

Can you provide a Debug Log that captures the scanning of the movies in the collection.

Hi Hitcher & Karellen,

I have set the missing Fanart backgrounds via the UI already last night, as suggested by Hitcher. Would have been interesting to know why they were not recognized in the first place. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on that whenever I set up a new Movieset in the future and if this ever occurs again, we can check with a debug log.

Appreciate your help!
