Hi Guys,
after some years of kodi+external player (mpc-hc) +madvr, I've tried again kodi dsplayer.
Everything is good but the color space used is wrong: I've used Lucy UHD and in MPC-HC madvr applies bt.2020 and dsplayer bt.709 with the same lav filters.
Here you can find the madvr debug.

do you have any ideas?

I do enjoy Kodi for Windows usually with my TV series; however, I've gravitated back toward MPC-MC + MadVR for all of my movies and TV needs because the picture quality is simply unparalleled compared to all the other alternatives I've experienced like JRiver, MPC-BE, VLC, PotPlayer and even the Nvidia Shield Pro.

Here are the general steps for setting up madVR with Kodi DSPlayer and external players:

Install madVR on your computer. You can download the latest version from the madVR website.
Open Kodi and go to Settings > Player > Videos.
Set the player to "DSPlayer."
Click on "DSPlayer settings" and navigate to the "External filters" tab.
Click "Add filter" and select "madVR."
In the "Command line parameters" field, enter the following: "--autofit" (without quotes).
Click "OK" to save the settings.

To use madVR with external players, you need to configure the player to use madVR as the video renderer. The exact steps will depend on the player you are using, but in general, you should look for an option to set the video renderer and select madVR.

Keep in mind that madVR is a powerful video renderer and may require some tweaking to get the best performance and quality. You can adjust the settings in the madVR control panel, which can be accessed by right-clicking on a video while it's playing.

Oh ok, didn't see it that way thank you. I understand now, can I ask what else is there with having a good player with the new kodi 21?

Hi, i have a question:
I have a Notebook connected to my TV via HDMI, in MadVR so I see the two Devices (Notebook and TV), but I noticed that Display Mode only works when activated on the PC device while it doesn't work at all if activated on the TV device, why? I expected to have to set it on the TV device. At this point I ask myself, should I set the other parameters such as (properties, calibration, color gamma, hdr) on PC devices or on TV Devices? Thank you

In the OSD, whether I am playing a 4K movie on a 2K screen, or a 4K movie on a 4K screen, I always see the indicative presence of the Image Downscaling algorithm, what does it mean? Is it performing a downscaling even though there is no need for it or is it simply an indicative value of the settings? Why can't we also see the upscaling algorithm instead? Thank you

Hi all,

My set-up :
Windows 10, build 1903 (updates blocked), MPC-BE 1.5.4 + MadVR 0.92.17
Nvidia GTX1080, driver 385.28
JVC RS65 / X35
Resolutions set @ 3840x2160 @23p, 24p using CRU.
Nvidia parameters: RVB, full color 32, 12bit (same in MadVR)

My issue is the following:
When watching a movie it works well for 20 min or so, although the “frame/repeat” varies from 1 frame repeat every 5 hours to 14 hours (it does not report very stable data, but that works well).


Suddenly and randomly after 20 or 30 min the sound is distorted, and there are important repeat frames, as shown in the second picture. 1 or 2 min later it reverts to “normal”. My processor load is below 20%, and GPU load below 60% so it seems there is no issue on this side. I have also tried to change in MadVR / rendering the “how many video frames shall be presented in advance” from “8” to “1”, but this does not solve the issue.


Can someone please provide advice to address this issue and what I should be looking at?

Adding to the above, this happens when playing an UHD file with an Atmos sound track. It is reported in other forums including in -LAV Filters issues ( https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/issues/624 ) that the issue would come from the Atmos file. Anyone would have experienced the same issue and got it solved please?
