audio gradually out of sync whith pulseaudio-dlna output
#1
Hello,
I am using kodi (flatpak version) on ubuntu 24.04
My audio output is pulsaudio-dlna.
It works fine with VLC, I have a delay of 800ms which I can correct. And it remains the same during the whole movie, tested with multiple movies.
On kodi, at the begining, I can setup a delay of 800ms and it's ok, but this delay is not constant. Sometimes the delay is bigger and bigger during the movie. Sometimes the delay changes when I read another movie.
What can I do ?
Thank you

Fixing the delay reported by the pulseaudio sink. Kodi measures delay constantly against the wall clock and when something is off - it will recognize that. Means: It knows that you are 800 ms off and considers and handles this as error.
If you don't want to fix the root cause, as you seem to be fine with your 800 ms external correction -> make kodi to open 1 second buffer as well, e.g. here: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master...E.cpp#L954
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Please post your Debug Log and check that you really use pulseaudio and not some pipewire tunnel, please.

The delay is not in pulseaudio, but in the network stack, and receiver buffer, I cannot remove it.
I removed pipewire it did not work with DLNA
Do I need to compile kodi to set an audio buffer ?
I tried to reproduce the issue with logging enabled, but now it's working. I will provide logs when it happens again.

I am unable to make it work correctly again. It worked fine, with constant audio delay of 800ms for several weeks, but now I have several seconds delay. It started the day I connected a remote control (kore) which sends sounds each time I push a button. I don't know if it is related, but I completely disabled the web interface and I still have this issue, even after a computer reboot. I tested again with a movie played by vlc, the delay is fine (800ms).
What could cause this issue ?
Thak you

Another precision : The audio is synced when I first launch a movie. But then it de-sync when I jump to another part.
If I try to launch a youtube playlist, it is synced for the first video, but not for the following ones.
To be synced again I have to stop the movie or playlist, and resume it.
What is strange is that it worked fine for a few week.
Anything I can do or check ?
