i have the Pro 8k plus i plug my hard drives in through a 3 port hub to the usb 3 on my duo 4k and i can index all my videos into libary in kodi, the Pro 8k plus i go to do same thing and tell it to index and it does nothing when i tell it to updates says it see,s no videos now if i get out of kodi and look on dash disks are there and accessible

I saw you posted the same question on the AVS forum.
First thing to try, if you have not already done that, use the native Dune Media Center (DMC) and setup your media.  Use the "sources" tab to locate your external HD's and add them.  Then under "My Collection" "Manage Folders", add the source that you just added and scan for your media.  If that works correctly and it finds all of your media on those hard drives, then the issue is Kodi settings.

Under Kodi, are you going into the "files" section then "Add Videos" then select "Browse" under the "Add Video source".  Which option are you selecting under that screen?

under add files i open disk go to movie folder and then tell it to add to collection or update collection either way nothing happens also if i click on  a movie when im in there it goes to next screen it wont start playing the movie, when i click on movie it just goes to next screen nothing in it

 It plays everything flawlessly EXCEPT Dolby Vision.

DV work at 99%  ONLY exoplayer, kodi use different API.

exoplayer is the system player developer buy chip manufacturer for VOD service like netflix/prime ecc

You must force exoplayer https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2975374.

Alternative you can use exoplayer media center like: plex, emby or Vimu Media Player.
