Free Streaming Service VUit Expands Local News Coverage with Cox Media Group
Jess Barnes cordcutternews.com September 2, 2021

The free streaming service VUit, (pronounced “view it”) announced today a carriage agreement with Cox Media Group. With the deal, VUit will add channels in markets across the country, expanding VUit’s local news coverage.

“Hyperlocal news is no longer just for those living in the community.  There’s an appetite for these stories well beyond the local broadcasters’ markets. Cox is the perfect partner to amplify VUit’s content offerings, and we’re excited to be able to bring the high-quality content of their local stations to viewers nationwide,” said Jack Perry, CEO of Syncbak, VUit’s parent company.

VUit launched in September 2020 with over 200 television station partners, owned by Gray Television, Meredith Corporation, Cowles Media Company, Heritage Broadcasting Group and Morgan Murphy Media.

As with its current partners, VUit plans to work with Cox Media Group to stream their current linear local news and culture programming, along with creating original content that will appeal to viewers both inside and outside of their local markets.

I see at your site the addon has been discontinued, looks like VUit has been discontinued as well

VUit TV is Shutting Down & Being Replaced By a New App Act Now to Save Your Local ABC, CBS, FOX, & NBC News

VUit TV, a popular streaming service offering free access to local news broadcasts from across the United States, is shutting down. But don’t worry, local news enthusiasts! The service is being replaced by ZEAM, a new and improved platform from the same parent company, Syncbak, that promises an even better local news streaming experience.

VUit TV, launched in 2020, gained a loyal following by providing a convenient way to watch live and on-demand local news from hundreds of stations nationwide. However, Syncbak is now focusing its efforts on ZEAM, a next-generation platform designed to offer a more robust and engaging local news experience.

To keep your news, though, you need to download the new ZEAM app, as the VUit TV app will soon stop working.

I discontinued the Vuit add-on because they were constantly making changes to their API, and it required frequent fixes. If the same company is running Zeam, they're probably going to do the same thing.
