This is the firmware that I am using >> SEI804HM_firmware.14.8.2042.zip. I updated from Android 12 to 14 manually using the Amlogic System Restore. I have the Dune Homatics box. I have not had any issues with it EXCEPT that terrible VC-1 video codec. I have to use my Emby app to watch videos with that codec, but they play perfect with the Emby transcoding. I have been using the Dune Homatics box to watch live TV (480i) using the HDHomeRun app and it plays perfectly.

Been awhile since I used CoreELEC running on this box, so had to test again. My flash drive with CE-NG is still inserted into my Dune Homatics and the lady with the binoculars or camera, is still there at the 80sec mark. I had to do NOTHING to the flash drive since it was used for Android 12. From Android, I just used the "Reboot to CoreELEC" app and it rebooted right into CE.

What will be your use case, xx% Android, xx% CE? What are your expectations?? Our bar for expectations keeps going higher.

Years ago, I was happy to get Dolby Digital as an output, besides them rebooting every few minutes.

80% CE, 20% Android. The sole premium streaming service I have is Prime Video, and even that, I barely use it. And, SmartTube for ad-free YT. Prefer full BD & UHD rips as I prefer their quality over streaming, especially on a 150" projection screen Smile

Want to see if 3D works w/o issues on this box vs. AM6B+, which has issues. Hoping CE dev Portisch looks into & resolves them. Also, want to test AV1 4K videos, and see how it performs as a CE box overall vs. AM6B+.

@hdmkv what is the process from going to android YouTube from CoreELEC? how long does it take? The only thing I would want is SmartTube so I don't need to watch adds. Also In YouTube app on my tablet, I can send videos to my TV. can we do that using smartube on my tablet to send to the homatics? thanks for your help

Yes, you can also cast to TV from SmartTube. Here's a screenshot from their Telegram support. CE <-> Android, you can choose 'Reboot to NAND/eMMC', then from Android, use this app.

that's pretty sweet! instead of paying YouTube I can get a box that has android. plus it will be faster than the tv. awesome! I don't need FEL so will look into which box is ideal. thanks for your help and the effort for the screenshots. much appreciated

ATV 14 on the homatics still seems the the wild wild west to me. i would wait.

i use projectivy on the android side and as of right now, those jerks at sei / homatics put in some inane logic to block most custom launchers. you can get around it but the workaround then disables the ability to control brightness on the LED. it's a mess but apparently it's being fixed.

i think i read you can boot into CE now with ATV 14 but it's still rocky as adjustments need to be made in CE to accommodate a fully functional experience.

i've been pretty happy with the device on ATV 12. in android i get all audio passthrough including DTS HD/X. the only issue there is multichannel pcm audio is broken on android. no issues dual booting CE either.

it's still considered beta on the non dune homatics.

those yahoos at dune, nokia, etc have been releasing beta builds as stable for some time now.

homatics themselves seem to wait for more things to be ironed out before releasing as stable.

personally i would just leave it with whatever it has and wait for ATV 14 to be released through the official update channel.
