Release YouTube
It worked.
The api key was installed on YouTube addon version 7.1.1.6 . Sign in. Use your Google Account. Then I updated to 7.2.0 beta 4.

I had to reauth using both and it works.

OK – I have gone back several pages of posts to try to pick up what I need to do and will admit from the off – I am confused
Issue:
I had been using version 7.1.1.1 unofficial since November as that had fixed my issues (thanks to all those that support this addon through the “ins and outs” with google)
But in the last week started getting “UNKNOWN” message box whenever clicking on a video in the addon

Status:
I just installed 7.1.1.6 unofficial from the zip file
Then updated that to 7.2.0 beta unofficial
Ran the addon setup wizard
Checked the Apis are in place
Tried signing in via google.com/device using my phone
Website said success – but Kodi box said “unauthorised”  with code 401
Tried a few more times same result – so stuck at sign in

Where am I going wrong Huh

Make sure to read or re-read all the posts from #2980 to #2990 inclusive paying particular attention to @otinley’s help to me about the Oauth Consent Page (his image attachment was invaluable) and also to @kaminix’s help about the absolute need to sign in TWICE with two different codes. Good luck.

EDIT: I was/am using the plugin 7.2.0 beta5 official.

thanks for the help  - i have re read those

questions i have:
1, my api's were working till a week ago using youtube 7.1.1.1 unofficial  - do i still need to set up new ones from scratch - or should these still work - and i should therefore look elsewhere for the issue ?
( i seem to remember that was a PITA and more room for missteps from when i did it before )

2, there doesn't seem to be a 7.2.0 beta 5 official or unofficial in github - only 7.2.0 beta 4  - does this matter for sign in issues ?

i am not getting prompted to sign in a second time - so it looks like the first sign in is where the issue arises -

my OAuth status seems fine  - says - in production

My response to your questions are as shown below. However, I am quite happy to be corrected if my newly acquired advice is incorrect.

1, yes, get new APIs and put them on a newly installed YT add-on.

2, use beta4 from GitHub. I believe @MoojMidge will be putting beta5 in the usual place sometime soon. I do not believe that for this particular exercise it matters which.

You do not actually get prompted to sign in a second time but just do it and you will see the unique code you have to type into google.com/device is different from the first sign in. Then it is plain sailing. Good luck.

Have you published your APP, take it out of testing?
Have you updated the add-on?
Have you signed in to register device/App?

Hi, I'm running Batocera v42 on Odroid xu4
Kodi is v21.1.0 and youtube addon 7.1.1.6.

Since around a week, I get an "Invalid Client Type" (401) error when sign in.
I've been to https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...1509319017
Then https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...the-add-on

All instruction followed, Sign In is working (yes !) but when I start playing a content, add requests me to Sign In again.
So I Signed Out/Signed In once, KO, restarted, KO, Signed Out/In again, stil KO.

I'm out of ideas.
Do you have any clues to help me ?

BR,
Alex.

"All instruction followed.", Except the one asking to update the addon, right?
"I'm out of ideas.", How about scrolling up a bit?

but on the YT add it gave me another code. I entered them again but there was an error on the google page.
and on my google account I don't see the app youtube-kodi  Undecided

Hi otinley, thanks for your reply.

I'll ask Batocera team see if I can update addon myself or if they can update it for next release.

I already scrolled a bit, any relevant post you would like to present me ?

i'm still stuck - its massively frustrating  - each new attempt just brings more unexplained issues and this has soaked up 3hrs so far

i am trying to install new api's as suggested  - using the "enable api configuration page" method as advised in the previous posts (as apparently manually editing as i have done before via SSH will not work)

but i cannot connect to the page from my PC  http://<KODI_IP>:50152/youtube/api

i get "<KODI_IP>Refused to connect"

i have checked that:
1, "enable developer keys" is on - under the youtube configuration page for API's
2, all existing API Key, ID, secret is now deleted from the addon configuration page
3, Settings - HTTP Server - is enabled ( i set a password - as it seems one was needed - but i am not even getting as far as being prompted for one )
4, double-checked the port is as standard - 50152
5, turned off windows firewalls to test that these were not getting in the way - ( i dont think they were as i can access the box via Putty or WinSCP)
6, restarted the box/kodi - ie power cycle from the mains
7, tried the same url from my phone to doublecheck it is not some issue with the PC - but got the same result

no change

any suggestions Huh??
